Rajnath Singh To Address Lok Sabha On Operation Sindoor Today
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the Lok Sabha today as Parliament begins a key debate on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack.

Parliament is gearing up for a crucial day as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is slated to address the Lok Sabha around 12 PM today, kicking off a marathon debate that promises to be one of the defining moments of the Monsoon Session. The discussion will center on national security concerns, particularly the government's response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the launch of Operation Sindoor.
Following a turbulent opening week marked by repeated disruptions and political deadlock, the stage is now set for a 16-hour debate that could reshape the contours of India’s security and foreign policy discourse. Monday’s session is expected to draw intense scrutiny from all sides, with emotions running high over the deadly attack in Pahalgam that triggered nationwide outrage.
Discussion On Operation Sindoor
At the heart of today’s proceedings is Operation Sindoor — a significant military and diplomatic maneuver initiated in the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will open the debate, outlining the government’s position and strategic objectives. He will be joined by Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, both expected to elaborate on the internal and international ramifications of the operation.
Several senior BJP leaders, including Anurag Thakur and Nishikant Dubey, are also slated to contribute, reinforcing the government’s narrative and underlining its approach to national security.
The Opposition, meanwhile, is preparing a strong counterattack. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, are expected to lead the charge. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, along with other key Opposition figures, will also take part in what promises to be a fiery exchange. The Congress party has issued a whip mandating the attendance of all its Lok Sabha MPs for the next three days — a clear signal of the importance it places on the debate.
Breakthrough After Week of Disruptions
This dramatic shift toward substantive discussion comes after a rocky start to the session, with the Opposition repeatedly stalling proceedings over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and other contentious issues. However, a breakthrough came on July 25, when Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced that both sides had agreed to begin discussions on national security matters — starting Monday in the Lok Sabha and continuing in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
