'Want To Remove Dilli Ki Duri & Dil Ki Duri': PM Modi To Kashmir Leaders During All-Party Meet

Prime Minister Modi, who chaired the all-party meeting at his official 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence in the national capital, “welcomed all who came for development of Jammu and Kashmir”.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday thanked the leaders from Jammu and Kashmir for attending the all-party meeting and said “there can be differences in ideologies but the idea of country should always be on top”.

Prime Minister Modi, who chaired the all-party meeting at his official 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence in the national capital, “welcomed all who came for development of Jammu and Kashmir”.

“We want to start the assembly election process as soon as the delimitation process is completed,” he told the leaders.

Asserting that his “clear focus is the youth of Kashmir and development”, Prime Minister said that he wants to end ‘Doori’ – ‘Delhi Se Dil Tak’.

As per sources close to news agency ANI, PM Narendra Modi heard out suggestions and inputs from all participants. He expressed happiness that all participants shared their honest views. It was an open discussion that revolved around building a better future for Kashmir. 

PM said that when people experience corruption-free governance, it inspires trust among the people and people also extend their co-operation to the administration and this is visible in Jammu & Kashmir today.

"There would be political differences but everyone should work in national interest so that people of Jammu and Kashmir can benefit. Amosphere of safety and security needs to be ensured for all in J&K," PM said adding that wants to remove 'Dilli ki Duri' & 'Dil Ki Duri'.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was also present at the meeting, said that discussion on Jammu and Kashmir was conducted in a very cordial environment. 

"Everyone expressed their commitment to democracy and the constitution. It was stressed to strengthen the democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

The meeting took place a day after the Election Commission held virtual discussions with its representatives in Jammu and Kashmir and the Deputy Commissioners regarding the delimitation of the 90 Assembly constituencies in the Union Territory.
