Message From India: Col. Sofiya Qureshi And Wing Commander Vyomika Singh Brief Media On Op Sindoor

Not Tri-Services chiefs, but Indian Army's Col. Sofiya Qureshi and IAF's Wing Commander Vyomika Singh briefed the media on the air strikes taken out in PoK as part of Operation Sindoor.

In a significant moment following the Indian Armed Forces’ precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, the official press briefing was led by two decorated women officers — Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. The high-level briefing was held to address the media and the nation about the details and intent behind the strikes carried out across terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

At the official media briefing on Operation Sindoor, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi presented video evidence showcasing successful strikes on terror camps located in Muridke and other parts of Pakistan and PoJK. The footage, captured by onboard targeting systems and surveillance drones, confirmed multiple direct hits on key terrorist infrastructure, including camps linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh elaborated on the intent and execution of the operation, said, "Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces to deliver justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and successfully destroyed. The locations were so selected to avoid damage to civilian infrastructures and loss of any civilian lives."

Operation Sindoor: Terror Targets Hit In Pakistan & PoJK

Retaliating against the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian armed forces early Wednesday carried out missile strikes on nine terror targets, including key strongholds of terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The operation, named Operation Sindoor, comes two weeks after the April 22 attack that killed 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen.

The Indian Army struck terror infrastructure in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Tehra Kalan, Sialkot, Bhimber, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad — regions long known to host training camps and operational bases of JeM, LeT and Hizbul Mujahideen.

In a statement issued at 1.44 am, the defence ministry said: “A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.”

The ministry emphasised that India’s response was “focused, measured and non-escalatory,” adding that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted. “India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and the method of execution,” the statement said.

The defence ministry reiterated that the steps were taken in response to the “barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack” and that “those responsible will be held accountable.”
