Satellite Images Show Craters, Collapsed Hangars At Pakistani Air Bases Hit In ‘Operation Sindoor’
Maxar satellite images reveal extensive damage to Pakistani air bases after Operation Sindoor. Key bases like Jacobabad, Bholari, Sukkur, Nur Khan, and Mushaf sustained significant damage.
High-resolution satellite images by Maxar Technologies reveal extensive damage to several Pakistani air bases targeted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) during the recent military operation dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor’. The strikes, carried out in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, inflicted significant damage to infrastructure at multiple locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
According to satellite visuals from Maxar Technologies accessed via ANI, India launched precision strikes on key air bases including Sargodha (Mushaf), Nur Khan (Chaklala), Bholari, Jacobabad, and Sukkur. The before-and-after images show craters, collapsed structures, and scorched terrain following the attacks.
Jacobabad Air Base
Located in Pakistan’s Sindh province, around 200 km from the international border west of Rajasthan’s Longewala, the Jacobabad air base hosts Pakistan’s 39 Tactical Wing. A hangar at the base was targeted by India, with satellite images showing visible damage and adjacent debris. A prior image showed the structure intact.
Bholari Air Base
One of the newest Pakistani air bases, Bholari became operational in 2017. It was also targeted during the Indian strikes, with substantial damage reported to the hangar’s roof. The damage is evident in satellite visuals showing the roof shattered and scattered debris, while earlier images showed no structural impairment.
Sukkur Air Base
Strategically positioned in Sindh province and operated by Pakistan’s Southern Air Command, the Sukkur airbase showed signs of severe structural damage and debris. It also shows burns near the structure, likely due to post-strike fires, and possible burn or strike scars near the affected building.
Nur Khan Air Base
Previously known as Chaklala, Nur Khan air base lies between Rawalpindi and Islamabad—nerve centres of Pakistan’s military and political command. Historically, it was targeted by India during the 1971 war. In the recent strikes, Maxar imagery captured extensive destruction of several buildings. Comparisons with an earlier image reveal the structures that were targeted with precision.
Mushaf Air Base (Sargodha)
Targeted during both the 1965 and 1971 wars, the Mushaf airbase in Sargodha once again came under Indian strikes. Situated west of Lahore, around 200 km from Punjab’s international border, the base saw damage at two distinct runway points—one at an intersection and another on the main strip, the IAF had informed. Images depict runway craters, compared to the earlier visuals.
Operation Sindoor
India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, targeting nine terror sites across Pakistan and PoJK in response to the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives. The Indian forces destroyed multiple camps linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen, eliminating over 100 terrorists.
Following India’s overnight operation, the Pakistani military responded with drone and missile attacks on India, which were successfully intercepted. India then retaliated by targeting key military installations deep within Pakistani territory.
According to Air Marshal AK Bharti, the Indian strikes were “measured and calibrated,” with selected targets aimed at weakening Pakistan’s military infrastructure.
The escalation came to a halt after both countries reached an understanding last Saturday, bringing an end to four days of cross-border drone and missile exchanges.
