New Delhi: As the searing heatwave continues to stretch over India, Maharashtra’s Chandrapur recorded a maximum temperature of 46.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday which was the highest in the state during the day, an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, news agency PTI reported.
Several other cities like the Vidarbha region also broiled under temperatures as high as 44 degrees Celsius. Brahmpuri recorded a maximum temperature of 46.3 degrees Celsius while Akola witnessed 45.5 degrees Celsius with Wardha at 45, Nagpur at 44.6, Godia at 44.5, Amravati at 44.2, Yavatmal at 44, Gadchiroli at 42.8, and Buldhana at 42 degrees Celsius, showed the IMD data.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra is not the only state to put up with high temperatures. Rajasthan’s Ganganagar recorded 46 degrees Celsius with Jaisalmer at 45.9, Pilani at 45.7, Phalodi at 45.6, and Churu at 45.5 degrees Celsius. A total of nine regions in Rajasthan recorded a temperature above 44 degrees Celsius.

Heatwave In North India
Madhya Pradesh also recorded the highest maximum temperature of 45.4 degrees Celsius in Khajuraho. While Nowgong touched 45 degrees, Gwalior reached 44.5 degrees Celsius.
On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest maximum temperature of 45.2 degrees in Jhansi with Aligarh at 44.2 and Orai at 44 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
The maximum temperatures remained between 42-45 degrees Celsius in most parts of west Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Gujarat, West Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and parts of West Bengal.
Considering the heatwave conditions, the Met department has issued Orange and Yellow alerts in parts of West and East India.
