The Rouse Avenue Court has sent a summons to former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, in a land-for-job corruption case, summoning them for March 11.

Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court took cognisance of the final conclusive chargesheet filed in the 'land-for-job' corruption case filed by the CBI. The Rouse Avenue Court issued summons to all the accused including former railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his daughter Hema Yadav, and his son Tej Pratap Yadav

The CBI had filed a conclusive chargesheet against 78 people, including Lalu Yadav, last year. Lalu Prasad Yadav was allegedly involved in the 'scam' during his tenure as the Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009. He allegedly transferred land and property of job applicants and their families in exchange for government employment.

Jobs were handed out in railway zones in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur in exchange for plots. In exchange for recruitment to various posts in the railways, the lands of interested people were taken at very low prices or transferred as gifts.

The Rouse Avenue Court ordered all the accused, including Lalu Yadav to appear on March 11.

30 Government Officials Accused

The CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) started the investigation of this case, in which a case was registered against Lalu Yadav, his family and some of his close people under fraud, corruption and money laundering. Many senior officials also came under the ambit of this investigation.

CBI conducted raids at many places and collected evidence. The names of 30 senior government officials are also included in the list of 78 people against whom the charge sheet was filed. Senior railway officials have also been named as accused in the case.
