WATCH: Long Queues At Mysuru Hospital As Heart Attack Fears Grip Karnataka

After reports of heart attack deaths in Karnataka, particularly Hassan, Jayadeva Hospital in Mysuru has seen a surge in patients seeking cardiac screenings.

A wave of anxiety over a string of heart attack-related deaths in Karnataka—particularly in Hassan district—has led to an extraordinary surge in patients at Jayadeva Hospital in Mysuru, with hundreds lining up daily for cardiac screenings. The public concern comes after disturbing reports of 18 young individuals reportedly dying of heart attacks in Hassan.

The reports have prompted people from across the region to flock to the state-run cardiac hospital. Long queues for outpatient consultations began forming as early as dawn, with hospital officials reporting that daily footfall has crossed the thousand mark—nearly double the usual numbers.

Medical Report Junks Heart Attack Linked To Covid Vaccine Claim

The Karnataka government, responding to the panic, constituted an expert medical committee to examine the sudden rise in cardiovascular fatalities. An observational study conducted at Jayadeva Hospital in Bengaluru offered some reassurance: it found no evidence linking the recent cardiac incidents to COVID-19 infections or vaccinations. Instead, the panel reaffirmed the role of traditional risk factors—such as tobacco use, uncontrolled diabetes, high blood pressure, and poor lifestyle choices—as the key contributors to early-onset heart disease.

Nevertheless, the reassurances have done little to ease the growing public fear. With social media amplifying stories of seemingly healthy individuals suffering fatal cardiac events, the demand for heart check-ups has soared.

Meanwhile, preventing a heart attack involves adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle and managing risk factors. Some of the precautions include adopting a healthy diet, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy weight, avoiding tobacco and liquor, keeping blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar levels under check.
