Isha Foundation Offers Free Yoga Sessions To Over 10,000 Defence Personnel On International Day Of Yoga

On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, Isha Foundation organised over 2,500 free yoga sessions across India, conducted by over 11,000 trained yoga masters.

The Isha Foundation, on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, conducted a nationwide wellness campaign as a part of which it conducted thousands of free yoga sessions for more than 10,000 defence personnel across the country. More than 2,500 free sessions were held across India under Isha Foundation’s initiative, with active participation from defence personnel, students, professionals, and citizens alike.

Over 11,000 trained 'Yoga Veeras' facilitated both online and in-person sessions at several locations including defence facilities, schools, colleges, office complexes, gyms, and prisons.

A large-scale yoga event was organised at Sadhguru Sannidhi in Bengaluru, where more than 5,000 members from the Army, Navy, Air Force, BSF, and NCC, came together for a collective session with over 1,000 civilians, including school and college students.

Several regional events also marked impressive turnouts. Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar witnessed participation from 1,500 defence personnel, while Jodhpur’s airbase hosted a session attended by 900 Air Force members. In Pune, around 500 Army personnel joined the initiative, and Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur welcomed 400 soldiers for the yoga event.

In Tamil Nadu, over 200 personnel, including members from the Indian Air Force’s Redfields and Sulur Wing 43, Army’s 35th Regiment in Madukkarai, and the Rapid Action Force in Vellalor, gathered at the iconic Adiyogi in Coimbatore for a special session led by an Isha-trained instructor.

Yoga sessions were also conducted at companies such as HDFC Bank, IBM, Godrej, L&T, Yes Bank, and HDFC Life Insurance, while prestigious campuses like IIT Chennai also participated, reflecting yoga’s growing integration into everyday life and making simple yet profound yoga practices accessible to professionals from various fields.

Yoga Helps Build Life Of Conscious Choice: Sadhguru

More than 2,000 young Isha volunteers helped spread awareness around mental health, introducing the public to ‘Miracle of Mind’, a guided 7-minute meditation created by Sadhguru to help individuals manage their mental well-being.

Since its launch during Isha Mahashivratri earlier this year, the campaign has gained significant traction, with its app crossing 2.5 million users globally and registering 1 million downloads within the first 15 hours of release.

On the occasion of Yoga day, Sadhguru posted on X, saying, “Yoga is a system that helps you build a life of conscious choice.” He further added, “It is only when you are able to consciously rise above compulsion that your physical and mental well-being is completely determined by you.”

Isha Foundation’s engagement with the defence sector is beyond single-day events. Over the years, the foundation has trained more than 11,000 Indian Army soldiers in classical Hatha yoga. Furthermore, over 500 personnel have been equipped to independently conduct yoga sessions within their respective units.
