'What Is The Fault Of Children And Women...': Mehbooba Mufti Makes Emotional Appeal To End Military Actions

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti called to end military actions by India and Pakistan and to resolve the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.

Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti called for an end to military actions by India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister made an emotional appeal pressing to resolve the conflict between India and Pakistan through dialogue and diplomacy saying military actions treat symptoms but do not eliminate the root cause of the problem.

"What is the fault of the children and women that they are getting trapped in this crossfire?... Military action treats symptoms, not the root cause. It never provides a solution or peace," said the PDP chief.

She said that both the countries should opt for political intervention, not a military one.

"What did we achieve after the Balakot airstrike in response to Pulwama (attack)? I appeal to the leadership on both sides to end this attack... How long will people of J&K, especially the border areas, suffer the consequences?" she questioned.

'If Both PMs Can Pick Up Phone...'

Mufti further said that the purpose of both the countries have been served and now the leaders should speak to each other.

"Their purpose has been served after they claimed to have conducted a major strike (Operation Sindoor). Similarly, Pakistan is claiming that they shot down our fighter jets and destroyed brigade headquarters in Poonch. That means both of them settled the accounts equally," she said.

"I appeal to Pakistan's leadership and to PM Narendra Modi, who promised that the era of war has come to an end... If both Prime Ministers can just pick up the phone and resolve this conflict," she added.
