Flight Ops Shut At 32 Airports Across India Till May 15. Know Details
The affected flight airports include major and strategic locations such as Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Bhuj, and Jodhpur, among others.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced the temporary suspension of civil flight operations at 32 airports in northern and western parts of the country from May 9 to May 15, 2025. The move, issued through a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), is attributed to operational requirements, with authorities working to ensure coordinated airspace management.
The affected airports include major and strategic locations such as Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Bhuj, and Jodhpur, among others. All civil aviation activities at these facilities will remain halted until 05:29 AM on May 15, 2025. The decision comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
List Of Impacted Airports:
Adhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu-Manali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hirasar), Sarsawa, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise, and Uttarlai, according to Press Information Bureau.
In addition to airport closures, 25 air route segments within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs) have also been temporarily closed to all air traffic. These restrictions, detailed in NOTAM G0555/25 (which supersedes G0525/25), apply from ground level to unlimited altitude and are effective until 23:59 UTC on May 14, 2025.
Airlines have been instructed to adjust flight plans accordingly, with rerouting options to be coordinated through respective Air Traffic Control (ATC) units. AAI and aviation stakeholders are working closely to mitigate disruptions while maintaining flight safety standards.
While the AAI has not publicly detailed the reasons behind these large-scale airspace restrictions, such measures are typically enacted during periods of heightened security or significant military activity.
Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for real-time updates and revised travel schedules.
On Friday, IndiGo announced flight cancellations in several north Indian cities due to the tensions between India and Pakistan till May 10.
