The president of the Indian Youth Congress, Uday Bhanu Chib, was arrested by Delhi Police on Monday after prolonged questioning in connection with a protest case.
Chib had been summoned to Tilak Marg police station for interrogation. Following several hours of questioning, police placed him under arrest.
Police Cite Key Role in Planning Protest
According to police officials, Chib allegedly possessed detailed information about the protest and may have played a crucial role in organising and planning the demonstration.
Sources said investigators believe the overall blueprint of the protest was closely linked to the IYC president’s involvement.
Alleged Non-Cooperation During Interrogation
Police sources further claimed that during questioning, Chib did not cooperate fully with investigators. He allegedly denied knowledge of several aspects of the protest or attempted to mislead officials in response to key questions.
Authorities said they gathered what they described as sufficient evidence against him before making the arrest.
Chib is now expected to be produced before a court, where police will present their arguments regarding his alleged role in the case. Sources indicated that the police are likely to seek his custodial remand for further questioning.
