Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the satirical online platform Cockroach Janta Party, on Saturday claimed that his Instagram account and the party’s social media pages had been hacked days after the campaign went viral across digital platforms.

Dipke alleged that the incident was part of a broader “crackdown” targeting his online presence, saying several accounts connected to him had either been hacked, withheld or taken down.

In a post on X, he wrote: “Crackdown on Cockroach Janta Party. Instagram page hacked. My personal Instagram hacked. Twitter account withheld. Back up account also taken down.”

Founder Says Party Has Lost Access to Platforms

Dipke also warned followers not to treat any recent social media activity from the affected accounts as official communication from the Cockroach Janta Party.

“Please note that we currently do not have access to any of our platforms. Any post made after this should not be considered an official statement from the Cockroach Janta Party,” he said.

The development comes barely a week after Dipke launched the satirical digital campaign, which quickly gained widespread attention online. According to Dipke, the party’s Instagram page had crossed 19 million followers within days of its launch.

Viral Trend Linked to Controversy CJI's controversy

The emergence of the Cockroach Janta Party followed controversy surrounding remarks allegedly made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a court hearing related to senior designation for a lawyer.

Dipke said the idea for the platform was inspired by reports claiming that the Chief Justice had used the words “parasites” and “cockroaches” while criticising individuals entering the legal profession using fake degrees.

However, the Chief Justice later clarified that he had been misquoted and that his remarks were specifically directed at people obtaining “fake and bogus degrees”.

Despite the clarification, the Cockroach Janta Party rapidly gained traction online, using a cockroach as its symbol while sharing memes, satire, graphics and political commentary across social media platforms.

Satire-Focused Campaign Resonated With Young Users

The platform’s content primarily centred on issues affecting young people, including unemployment, exam paper leaks and concerns around education.

Presented through mock political manifestos, campaign-style graphics and satirical messaging, the online movement struck a chord with large sections of internet users.

Dipke had earlier described the initiative as the “voice of the lazy and unemployed”, a phrase that became widely circulated online alongside the campaign’s content.

Founder Earlier Claimed Receiving Death Threats

Before alleging the hacking of his accounts, Dipke had claimed that he received death threats on WhatsApp shortly after the platform began attracting national attention.

Sharing screenshots of the alleged messages, he wrote: “Receiving death threats now.”

According to Dipke, the sender allegedly threatened him over the operation of the Cockroach Janta Party account and pressured him either to shut down the platform or join the BJP.
