On Monday four Lok Sabha MPs from Congress party were suspended for the rest of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament for dirupting proceedings of the House. The four MPs -- Manickam Tagore, TN Prathapan, Jothimani, and Ramya Haridas -- were suspended from Lok Sabha for the rest of the session for displaying placards and disrupting proceedings despite a warning by Speaker Om Birla, news agency PTI reported.
Following the suspension, the party described it as a "blot on democracy" and alleged that the government was trying to "intimidate" the party but it would not be cowed down.
