In a massive development just hours after the release of actor Allu Arjun in bail in connection with the Pushpa 2 stampede case in Hyderabad, sources close to Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma have revealed that the Raj Bhavan has approved the prosecution of BRS Working President and former Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) in connection with the Formula E Race scam.

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) currently investigates misappropriation of Rs 55 crore in organising a Formula E race which was held in Hyderabad last year during the BRS regime.

The Formula E race, which was celebrated as a landmark event showcasing Hyderabad on the global stage, has come under scrutiny for financial irregularities. The ACB alleges that funds allocated for the event were misused, leading to a significant loss to the state exchequer.

Earlier, the Congress government, led by CM A. Revanth Reddy, initiated action against those allegedly involved in the Formula E racing scam during the previous BRS regime, as per a report on Deccan Chronicle. Following this, the municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) department had requested the Anti-Corruption Bureau to investigate the matter. The government had also issued a memo demanding an explanation from the then MA&UD secretary, Arvind Kumar.

Meanwhile, on Friday, BRS leader KTR came in support of actor Allu Arjun. Taking to X, KTR said, "Arrest of National Award winning star Allu Arjun is the pinnacle of insecurity of the rulers! I totally sympathize with the victims of the stampede but who failed really? Treating @alluarjun Garu as a common criminal is uncalled for especially for something he isn’t directly responsible.  There is always space for respect & dignified conduct. I strongly condemn the high handed behaviour of Govt."
