Delhi Weather Update: Rain Likely as Fresh Western Disturbance Approaches, Fog to Persist Over the Weekend

Delhi is set for rain due to a fresh western disturbance, with fog persisting over the weekend. Rain is expected on January 22-23, and temperatures will dip slightly, with foggy mornings continuing.

Delhi residents are bracing for another spell of rain as a fresh western disturbance is set to impact the region. According to the Meteorological Department, both Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) will experience weather changes starting January 22. The upcoming weather system is expected to bring light rain and drizzle to various parts of the city and NCR over two days.

Dense Fog and Temperature Trends

On Saturday morning, dense fog enveloped parts of Delhi, with the minimum temperature recorded at 10.2 degrees Celsius—2.6 degrees higher than the season’s average. As the western disturbance approaches, foggy conditions are set to persist, affecting daily life in the capital.

Yellow Alert for Sunday

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Sunday, warning of moderate fog at most places in Delhi and dense fog in certain areas. Scattered clouds are expected throughout the day, with light fog likely in the evening and night. These foggy conditions are predicted to continue into Monday morning, although no alert has been issued for that day.

Rain Forecast for January 22 and 23

The effect of the western disturbance will be felt from January 22, bringing light rain and drizzle along with thunder and lightning. The morning hours on these days will see mist or light to moderate fog, with the sky remaining cloudy. The weather on January 23 is expected to mirror the conditions of the previous day.

Temperature Fluctuations

From January 19 to January 21, Delhi’s maximum temperature is anticipated to range between 19 and 20 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius. As the rain sets in on January 22 and 23, temperatures will slightly dip, with the maximum hovering between 17 and 18 degrees and the minimum around 12 degrees Celsius. The cold spell will likely continue until January 24, accompanied by light to moderate fog in the mornings.
Residents are advised to prepare for the upcoming weather changes, especially the persistent fog and the anticipated rain. The Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
