'Voters' Will Be Forcibly Inked At Night': Kejriwal's Big Claim Ahead Of Delhi Polls

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal warned of large-scale voter suppression and that there are chances that fingers maybe forcibly inked to keep them from voting.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi met the Election Commissioner of India (ECI) at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi on Tuesday. Later, while speaking to the media, Kejriwal said they raised issues regarding violence and hooliganism. He further said that the EC has assured them of strict action and unbiased elections.

"We raised some issues because of violence and hooliganism in some places. The EC has assured us of strict action and that unbiased elections will be held." Kejriwal said, according to ANI.

Kejriwal alleged that attempts were made to suppress voter turnout, especially among slum dwellers. According to PTI, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP uses the Delhi Police to unleash hooliganism. "There is serious concern that BJP goons may intimidate voters, stop them from stepping out to vote, or mark their fingers with black ink to prevent them from voting," he said, as per PTI.

Kejriwal thanked the Election Commission for making an exception by meeting them as parties were not entertained during the silent period.

Reacting to these claims, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, in a press conference, accused the AAP of "conspiracy" to prevent party supporters from voting. He demanded the EC to disregard any such lists submitted by any political parties and to allow all registered voters in the official lists to cast their votes. He charged that AAP leaders have submitted lists of thousands of Purvanchali, Vaishya and Brahmin voters to election officials in nearly 50 constituencies, on the pretext that these individuals do not reside at the given addresses or are deceased.

“Arvind Kejriwal has done the work of scaring Delhi and lying throughout the election... I request the voters of Delhi to come out of their homes tomorrow and vote for a better and developed Delhi ..." was quoted by ANI.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi shared a video on X, which showed police taking details of two men who have indelible ink on their fingers. In the tweet, she claimed that ahead of the elections ink was being applied on "fingers of voters to prevent them from voting."
