New Delhi: The Congress party has accused the Arvind Kejriwal government of underspending the healthcare fund in 11 months this year despite the coronavirus pandemic. The claim which has been attributed to Congress leader Pawan Khera, says that the AAP government in Delhi has only spent 25 percent of the total fund in 11 months. The party also says that the Delhi government has failed to develop a health infrastructure in the union territory.

The claims by the party remain unsubstantiated as they have not shared any source for the figures. Delhi has at present in the throes of the third wave of coronavirus. On Friday Delhi reported 5,482 new Covid-19 cases.  Currently, the total active cases are 38,181  and the death toll has reached 8,909.

On Monday, the Supreme Court of India expressed concern over the resurgence of the Covid-19 wave and had pulled up the Delhi government for the situation along with other states such as Gujarat and Maharashtra which has also reported an increase. The court has also asked for a report from the Delhi government

"Things have worsened in Delhi especially in November. You file a status report on what steps have been taken," said the three-judge bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan.
