Fresh Heatwave Spell In Delhi From Friday

A heatwave was predicted in Delhi from Sunday, but easterly winds blowing over the national capital under the influence of Cyclone Asani saved the city from it. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of a heatwave from Friday.

Mahesh Palawat, vice-president (meteorology and climate change), a private weather forecasting agency Skymet said, "Easterly winds prevailing in the region under the impact of Cyclone Asani are keeping the mercury in check. Though there won't be a steep rise in temperatures in Delhi over the next few days, the increase in humidity levels can cause discomfort," he said.

"Without the easterly winds, temperatures would have leaped to 46-47 degrees Celsius," he said.
