Nikita Roy review: 'Nikita Roy' directed by debutant Kush Sinha and starring Sonakshi Sinha, may have arrived quietly, with barely any buzz or major promotions, but it packs far more punch than expected. Released alongside heavily marketed titles like 'Saiyaara' and 'Tanvi the Great', this film had little visibility and low pre-release expectations. And yet, it delivers a surprisingly gripping experience.
Nikita Roy plot
The story follows a man who dedicates his life to exposing fraudulent godmen and superstitions. But when one of these self-proclaimed babas ominously declares that the man will die in three days — and he actually does — the narrative takes a chilling turn. His sister, Nikita Roy (played by Sonakshi Sinha), embarks on a journey to uncover the truth behind his death, only to unearth shocking revelations.
How is Nikita Roy?
Despite its lack of hype, 'Nikita Roy' proves to be a taut, engaging thriller. Clocking in under two hours, the film gets straight to the point without unnecessary detours. It manages to maintain tension throughout, keeping viewers genuinely curious about what comes next. There are moments of genuine surprise, and the use of foreign locations adds visual flair without feeling forced.
Performances
Sonakshi Sinha brings a quiet maturity to her role, staying clear of over-the-top dramatics. Her performance is grounded and effective. Paresh Rawal leaves a strong impression as the manipulative baba, while Arjun Rampal adds weight to the narrative. Suhail Nayyar also stands out, convincingly portraying a man driven to extremes in the name of love.
Direction
It’s refreshing to see a first-time director like Kush Sinha choose such a bold subject. Even more impressive is how well he executes it. The film’s pacing, structure, and character arcs all show a strong directorial grip. For a debut, 'Nikita Roy' is an assured and commendable effort.
Verdict
'Nikita Roy' is a well-made, no-frills thriller that takes on blind faith with clarity and conviction. It may have arrived without much noise, but it’s certainly a film worth your time.
