Portals Of Badrinath Dham Open To Devotees, Temple Decorated With 40 Quintals Of Flowers
The Badrinath Dham has opened its doors to devotees for the season. The temple has been beautifully adorned with 40 quintals of flowers, marking the beginning of the holy pilgrimmage.

The portals of Badrinath Dham opened this Sunday morning and welcomed the devotees in an ambience filled with melodious tunes and spiritual chants. The ceremony was marked by the presence of the Indian Army’s Garhwal Rifles Band that played devotional melodies while flowers were showered upon the gathered devotees. At 6 AM, amid the chants of “Jai Badri Vishal,” the doors to the temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu were officially opened for the season.

Badrinath Opens In Floral Grandeur For Char Dham Yatra 2025
Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj spoke at the gathering and took the opportunity to express his joy on the occasion and urged devotees across the country to visit the holy shrine saying, “Today the whole country is happy. Devotees should come in large numbers to offer prayers at the Dham. Devotees experience spiritual bliss here.”
As part of the Char Dham Yatra 2025, which began with the opening of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. It was followed by the opening of Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham on 2nd May and 4th May respectively.
As the temple doors open, the Badrinath Temple was seen to be adorned with 40 quintals of flowers which showcased a breathtaking display that marked the grandeur of the Char Dham Yatra and left devotees spellbound. With the temple open now, devotees can experience the divine energy of Badrinath Dham and immerse themselves in the ongoing pilgrimage season.
Char Dham Yatra: A Sacred Journey Of Devotion And Transformation
The Char Dham Yatra is one of India’s most revered pilgrimage circuits and consists of four sacred shrines in Uttarakhand: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Each temple has immeasurable spiritual meaning attached to it, with devotees visiting these sites for blessings, purifying souls, and embarking on a journey of devotion. Usually held between the month of April and November, the Char Dham Yatra attracts millions of Pilgrims each year, making it a vital spiritual journey for all the Hindus worldwide. The Char Dham Yatra is not only a physical journey, but also a deeply transformative spiritual experience.
Rawal Performs The Puja
The chief priest who performs the puja at Badrinath is known as the Rawal. Only the Rawal has the right to enter the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and touch the idol of Lord Badrinath. Before the temple doors are opened, a ceremonial procession is carried out from the Narsingh Temple in Joshimath, bringing the mobile idol of Lord Vishnu and worship materials. For the next six months, after the doors of Baba Badrinath Dham are opened, sesame oil is used in his adornment and daily worship rituals.
Nara-Narayana Performed Tapasya
In the Badrinath temple, Lord Vishnu is worshipped along with his forms Nara and Narayana because it is believed that he did penance here in that form. That’s why in the inner part of the temple, the idols of Nara and Narayana in a meditative pose are placed next to Lord Vishnu.
