Covid Update: India Registers Marginal Dip In Cases, Records 3,157 Infections In Last 24 Hrs

New Delhi: India logged a slight dip in Coronavirus cases on Sunday. The country registered 3,157 new infections in the last 24 hours, 167 fewer than Sunday. With the addition of new cases, India's active Covid tally has now increased to 19,500.

The active Covid infections comprise 0.05 per cent of the total cases. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, a total of 2,723 COVID patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,25,38,976.

The recovery rate now currently stands ar 98.74 per cent while the daily cases positivity rate saw a surge from 0.71 per cent (on Sunday) to 1.07 per cent (on Monday).

The weekly positivity rate saw an uptick from 0.68 per cent (on Sunday) to 0.70 per cent (on Monday).

The country reported 26 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative death tally to 5,23,869. A total of 2,95,588 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, the cumulative tally has risen to 83.82 crore tests.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra on Sunday reported 169 new coronavirus positive cases, taking the state's infection tally to 78,77,901, the health department said. The state did not report any death due to the disease during the day, which kept its fatality count unchanged at 1,47,843.

There are 995 active cases in the state at present, the department said. On Saturday, the state had reported 155 new infections and one death.

According to the department, 172 patients reported recovery during the day and so far a total of 77,29,063 patients have recuperated from the infection in the state.

Of the 169 new cases, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region - comprising Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and neighbouring areas - accounted for 120 infections.
