Veteran actor Aasif Sheikh, known for portraying Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in the popular television show ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain’, fainted on set while filming on Monday. The 60-year-old actor was reportedly rushed to a hospital before being brought back to Mumbai for further treatment.
Asif Sheikh fainted due to exhaustion
According to Indian Express Aasif’s condition was caused by exhaustion. "He fainted on set due to extreme fatigue but is doing much better now. He was promptly taken to a doctor for medical assistance," Indian Express quoted its source as saying.
A report by Zoom suggested that the shoot involved physically demanding action sequences, which may have contributed to his collapse. "The scenes were intense and required a lot of energy. Aasif suddenly felt unwell and collapsed. He was treated on-site before being shifted to Mumbai for further medical care," the source told Zoom.
Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain writer Manoj Santoshi passes away
The incident took place on the same day the 'Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain' team lost their writer, Manoj Santoshi. The seasoned writer passed away after a long battle with liver cancer in his hometown, Aligarh, on Monday. Reports state that he was surrounded by family members at the time of his passing.
A close associate of the show confirmed the news to India Forums. "Manoj passed away early this morning in Aligarh, with his family by his side," the source told India Forums.
However, no official statement has been made by the production team or the cast regarding his demise.
Kavita Kaushik had urged fans to pray for him
The news of Manoj Santoshi’s illness became public last month when actress Kavita Kaushik took to social media to urge fans to pray for his recovery.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, she highlighted the support extended to him by producer Binaifer Kohli and actress Shilpa Shinde. "You may know him as the writer of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, Jijaji Chhat Par Hai, Madam Sir, Office Office, and several other beloved comedies. Today, I ask you all to pray for Manoj Santoshi as he battles severe liver complications. Angels like Binaifer Kohli and her team are doing everything to help him, and I applaud Shilpa Shinde for taking care of him," she wrote in a February post.
"A writer who has made the nation laugh for decades is now fighting for his life. Prayers for Manoj Santoshi," she captioned the post.
Manoj Santoshi have written for several successful comedy shows, including 'Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain', 'Happu Ki Ultan Paltan', and 'Jijaji Chhat Par Hai'.
