The funeral of Kota Srinivasa Rao, who passed away on July 13 at the age of 83, was attended by several stalwarts of the Telugu film industry. Celebrities such as Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Prakash Raj, Venkatesh Daggubati, and Rana Daggubati came together to pay their last respects to the legendary actor.

Following the news of Rao’s passing, SS Rajamouli expressed his grief on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Kota Srinivasa Rao garu. A master of his craft, a legend who breathed life into every character he portrayed. His presence on screen was truly irreplaceable. My heartfelt condolences to his family. Om Shanti.”

 

Kota Srinivasa Rao: A Versatile Titan of Indian Cinema

Born in 1942 in Kankipadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kota Srinivasa Rao made his film debut with the 1978 Telugu film Pranam Khareedu. Over the next several decades, he appeared in over 750 films across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi cinema. Known for his extraordinary versatility, he seamlessly transitioned between comic, villainous, and character roles — leaving an indelible mark on Indian cinema.

His contributions were recognised with multiple accolades at both the state and national level, solidifying his place as one of the industry's most respected and enduring figures.
