How Sai Pallavi's Comment At Thandel Event Turned Internet's Attention To Ananya Panday

Sai Pallavi's remark about Sandeep Reddy Vanga during the Thandel event has sparked a wave of reactions online, with some fans expressing disappointment.

During the pre-release event of 'Thandel', the much-anticipated film starring Sai Pallavi and Naga Chaitanya, Sai showered praise on the Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, describing him as "unfiltered and unapologetic." However, her remarks have sparked a wave of reactions online, with some fans expressing disappointment.

What Sai Pallavi said about Sandeep Reddy Vanga

Speaking at the event, Sai Pallavi commended Vanga’s authenticity, stating, “Every director should have a voice within them, and yours is so unfiltered—on screen, in your interviews, and wherever you go. There’s absolutely no filter, and it’s so nice and refreshing to see someone who isn’t influenced by a lot of things around. Sometimes, we feel the need to change ourselves to please people. But as humans, when we are unapologetic, it’s a revelation in itself. You realise that things happen for the best.”

She further lauded his journey in the film industry, saying, “When your passion is in the right place—like how you have gone from making Arjun Reddy to making a film up north, and now you’re doing even bigger films—people look forward to your movies. That, I think, is such a big thing.”

Social media slams Sai Pallavi

Shortly after a video of her speech surfaced online, fans and netizens criticised her remarks, in light of Vanga’s controversial films.

One unimpressed user commented, “Clown opinion.” Another wrote, “Didn’t expect this from you.” A disappointed fan posted, “Sai, I used to love you.” Another questioned, “Please tell me she’s being sarcastic.” Some felt that her praise was misplaced, with one remarking, “Being unfiltered doesn’t mean justifying toxicity in interviews and movies. This just proves once again that most cinema stars are out of touch.”

Netizens praise Ananya Panday

Meanwhile, some users highlighted Ananya Panday’s past remarks about Kabir Singh. The actress had openly criticised the glorification of toxic masculinity in the film during an episode of Koffee with Karan, where she appeared alongside Liger co-star Vijay Deverakonda. A fan noted, “This made me like Ananya Panday; she had the courage to tell Kjo and Vijay that glorifying men like Kabir Singh is wrong, and that such men aren’t attractive. I remember both men were quite arrogant in this ep.” Another added, “Yes, call her privileged etc., but standing up to misogyny takes courage. And that she showed.”

Vanga has often been at the center of debates due to the themes of his films. His directorial ventures, Kabir Singh and Animal, have been widely criticised for their portrayal of masculinity, violence, and misogyny. However, despite the criticism, both films turned out to be box office juggernauts.
