New Delhi: The sudden passing of actress and dancer Shefali Jariwala on Friday, June 27, at the age of 42 has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Known for her iconic appearance in the chartbuster music video 'Kaanta Laga' and her stint on Bigg Boss 13, Shefali reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at her Mumbai home. As tributes pour in, many fans are also revisiting the lesser-known chapters of her personal life, including her first marriage to music composer Harmeet Singh of the popular duo Meet Bros.

Shefali Jariwala’s First Marriage

Shefali and Harmeet tied the knot in 2004 at the height of her early fame. However, their marriage ended five years later in 2009. At the time of their separation, Shefali made serious allegations against Harmeet, accusing him of emotional abuse and mental harassment. She had earlier opened up about the troubled relationship in multiple interviews, emphasising that not all abuse is physical.

“It is very important to understand that you are not being appreciated. Not every kind of violence is physical. There is a lot of mental violence that also happens, and you are very unhappy in your life,” she told ETimes.

The actress revealed that her financial independence played a vital role in helping her walk away from a toxic relationship. “I think, one of the reasons why I could make the decision for myself was because I was independent. I was making my own money,” she said.

Shefali first met Harmeet after the success of 'Kaanta Laga' and even collaborated with the Meet Bros on a few projects, including the song Pyaar Humein Kis Mode Pe Le Aaya'.
