Lafangey Review: Harsh Beniwal–Gagan Arora Web Series Feels Like Your Own And Your Friends’ Story
With Harsh Beniwal, Gagan Arora, and Anud Singh Dhaka at the forefront, 'Lafangey' is a slice-of-life web series that feels like a mirror to every Indian youth.

Lafangey Review: These days, many films and web series don’t get much attention or promotion, but some have incredible content and reach audiences purely through word of mouth. That’s the power of good content, which is why they say content is king. Amazon MX Player’s web series 'Lafangey' is one such show, offering a very relatable story, strong writing, fantastic actors, and great entertainment.
'Lafangey' Story
The story revolves around three friends—Harsh Beniwal as Kamlesh, Gagan Arora as Rohan, and Anud Singh Dhaka as Chaitanya. Each of them faces their own struggles: Kamlesh dreams of becoming an actor, but his father pressures him to take over the family shop. Rohan lands a good job outside the city but quits it to focus on his girlfriend. Chaitanya’s family is in debt, he can’t find a job, and he ends up choosing the wrong path.
What happens next in their lives unfolds across the six episodes of this series.
How is the series?
It’s a great series that feels like your own story or that of your friends. It’s highly relatable. There’s a dialogue in the series: “There’s no pressure like pressure from trust.” This trust is what pressures youngsters, making them ready to do anything, often without thinking about right or wrong. The series portrays exactly this. You feel connected with the characters—they seem like people you know, or experiences you’ve had or seen around you.
From the start, the series grabs your attention and is enjoyable to watch. Midway, it feels a bit dragged out; some scenes could have been shorter or cut, and some parts feel repetitive. But the series picks up pace again and in the final episode, it even brings tears to your eyes, leaving you with a meaningful lesson.
Acting
Harsh Beniwal delivers an amazing performance. He appears so natural that you forget he is acting. When he uses harsh language, he feels like a real friend. Harsh has proven that content creators can be incredible actors, often better than many who desperately try to become stars but only struggle.
Gagan Arora’s performance is outstanding—his character is both stubborn and willing to do anything for his girlfriend. Gagan’s role makes you laugh and cry. Anud Singh Dhaka also does a great job, looking very natural. Barkha Singh plays Gagan’s girlfriend Ishita well, and many girls will relate to her character. Ranjan Raj impresses with his natural acting and entertains a lot. Saloni Gaur’s role is decent but lacks depth and could have been used better.
Writing and Direction
Abhishek Yadav and Ankit Yadav wrote this series, while Abhishek Yadav and Prem Mistry directed it. The writing is good and very relatable, and the direction is solid. The only drawback is the length of the episodes, which feel a bit long. With today’s shorter attention spans, this is the only thing that slightly irritates. Some repetition could have been reduced, making the series even better.
Overall, this series is worth watching.
