Salman Khan Announces Battle of Galwan Release Date, Confirms Bajrangi Bhaijaan Sequel

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is gearing up for what he calls one of the most physically grueling roles of his career, the upcoming war drama 'Battle of Galwan'. The film, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, is inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops and promises to be a high-intensity cinematic retelling of the real-life conflict.

Salman Khan on Battle of Galwan

In a candid interview with PTI, Salman shared just how demanding the film has been on him, both physically and mentally. "It is physically demanding. Every year, every month, every day it gets more and more difficult. I've to give more time now (for training). Earlier, I would do it (train) in one or two weeks, now I'm running, kicking, punching, and all that stuff. This film demands that," he said.

He compared the level of physicality required for 'Battle of Galwan' to his previous film 'Sikandar', saying the action and character in this one are entirely different. "For instance, in 'Sikandar' the action was different, the character was different. But this is physically difficult. Besides, shooting in Ladakh, in high altitude and in cold water (is another challenge)," Salman added.

The 59-year-old actor also recalled his reaction when the script came to him. "When I was signing the film, I thought it's amazing but it's a very very difficult film to do. I've 20 days (of work) in Ladakh and then seven to eight days (of shoot) in cold water. We will be shooting this month," he shared.

Battle of Galwan release date

While fans have grown accustomed to Salman’s festive Eid releases, media reports suggest that 'Battle of Galwan' might break tradition. The actor confirmed that the film is targeting a January release, possibly to align with Republic Day.

"Yes, January," Salman affirmed when asked about the release date.

Salman Khan confirms Bajrangi Bhaijaan sequel

Aside from the war drama, Khan also confirmed that a sequel to his 2015 blockbuster 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' is on the cards.

"I liked that movie (first of the film). It will kind of have the same theme and emotional beat. But it will be a different film," he said, as the original film marks its 10th anniversary this week.
