Pakistani star Mahira Khan, who starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the 2017 film Raees, recently addressed trolls yet again. Frequently expressing her admiration for Shah Rukh in interviews, Mahira often faces accusations of using his name for attention. At the Aalami Urdu Conference 2024 in Karachi, however, the actress responded to her critics with wit and confidence.

When asked about her experience working with Shah Rukh, Mahira acknowledged that it’s a recurring question in interviews but admitted she never tires of speaking about the King of Bollywood.
“Mujhse koi puchta hai toh main uska jawab deti hoon. Phir logon ko lagta hai ke main unke baare mein baat kar rahi hun. Main apne aap kabhi nahi baat karti unke baare mein,” Mahira said. Addressing social media trolls who accuse her of using Shah Rukh Khan’s name for publicity, she added, “Mujhe yeh hota hai ke aap mujhse puchiye hee nahi unke baare mein phir.”

Mahira shared the screen with Shah Rukh Khan in Raees (2017), directed by Rahul Dholakia, where their chemistry was widely appreciated. Mahira’s role as Shah Rukh’s love interest was both powerful and nuanced, earning her critical acclaim.
The song Zalima, from Raees, sung by Arijit Singh and Harshdeep Kaur, highlighted the sizzling chemistry between Shah Rukh and Mahira. Set against the vibrant streets of Gujarat, the track featured catchy beats and heartfelt lyrics that resonated with audiences.
In a conversation with casting director Mukesh Chhabra on his YouTube channel, Raees director Rahul Dholakia revealed that actresses like Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, and Anushka Sharma were considered for Mahira’s role. However, various factors ruled them out, and Mahira ultimately landed the part as she happened to be in Mumbai during the casting process.
