Ram Charan's Peddi has officially wrapped up its theatrical run and is now available to stream on OTT. After enjoying a successful spell at the box office, the film has secured its place among the biggest Telugu blockbusters of all time.

Ram Charan's Peddi received a strong response from audiences following its theatrical release on June 4. The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar and Jagapathi Babu in key roles and performed well throughout its cinema run before making its OTT debut.

According to Koimoi, Peddi opened with Rs 69.5 crore worldwide. The film concluded its theatrical run with an India net collection of Rs 244.27 crore, while its India gross collection reached Rs 288.23 crore. In overseas markets, the film earned Rs 52.9 crore, taking its worldwide gross total to Rs 341.13 crore.

With this final tally, Peddi has become Tollywood's 10th highest-grossing film of all time.

Peddi Enters Tollywood's Top 10 Highest-Grossing Films

The film has earned a place among the top 10 highest-grossing Telugu films. Baahubali 2 continues to lead the all-time list with a worldwide collection of Rs 1,788.06 crore, followed by Pushpa 2 with Rs 1,727.23 crore.

RRR occupies the third spot after earning Rs 1,275.51 crore, while Kalki 2898 AD is fourth with Rs 1,037.64 crore. Baahubali stands fifth with Rs 650 crore.

Further down the rankings, Saaho holds the seventh position with Rs 458.5 crore, followed by Devara in eighth place with Rs 422.11 crore. Pushpa ranks ninth after collecting Rs 352 crore, while Peddi completes the top 10 with its Rs 341.13 crore worldwide total.

Moana is a live-action remake of Disney’s 2016 animated blockbuster, replacing animation with real actors. However, after watching the film, it feels like this remake never really needed to exist. It’s almost identical to the original, leaving viewers who have already seen the animated version wondering why it was made in the first place.

Moana Story

The story follows Moana, a young girl who lives on the island of Motunui and is determined to protect her people. Her father forbids her from venturing into the ocean for a reason, but one day she secretly sets sail on a dangerous journey.

Her mission is to find the demigod Maui. Why does she need to find him? What is the Heart of Te Fiti, and how is it connected to her island? The answers unfold as the story progresses.

How Is The Film?

In one sentence: this is an unnecessary remake. The film offers almost nothing that wasn’t already present in the 2016 animated classic. If there are no meaningful creative additions, it’s hard to justify remaking it in live action.

The production design is decent; the 3D effects don’t leave much of an impact, the songs remain enjoyable, and the storytelling works well enough. The biggest issue, however, is that audiences have already experienced all of this before. Since the film brings virtually nothing new to the table, it leaves viewers feeling short-changed.

If you’ve already watched the original animated Moana, this remake is likely to disappoint. However, if you’re new to the story, it’s a perfectly enjoyable family watch. Families often look for films that offer clean entertainment without objectionable content, and in that regard, Moana delivers. But if you’re a longtime Disney fan familiar with the franchise, this live-action adaptation may feel like a missed opportunity.

Performances

Dwayne Johnson is one of the film’s biggest strengths. His comic timing is excellent, and although Maui is a light-hearted character, he remains an integral part of the story while providing plenty of entertainment.

Catherine Laga’aia is charming as Moana and breathes life into the character. Her performance makes you want to join her on the adventure. Rena Owen delivers a solid performance, while John Tui is equally impressive. Overall, the cast does justice to their respective roles.

Writing And Direction

The film is written by Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller and directed by Thomas Kail. The screenplay offers very little that’s new, largely recreating what audiences have already seen in the animated film. The direction is competent, but the film is likely to appeal only to viewers who haven’t watched the original Moana.

Verdict

Overall, Moana is an average film. It’s worth a one-time watch if you’re experiencing the story for the first time or are looking for wholesome family entertainment. For fans of the original animated classic, however, this remake offers little reason to return to Motunui.

This film is definitely not for those with a weak heart. Watching it might leave you feeling nauseous, anxious, and deeply disturbed. Hollywood often delivers films that shock audiences, and Evil Dead Burn is another example of that. Although several films in the Evil Dead franchise have already been released, you don’t need to watch any of them beforehand. You can jump straight into this one - provided you have the stomach for it. Otherwise, the film could leave you seriously unsettled.

Evil Dead Burn Story

The story follows a young woman whose marriage is plagued by constant arguments. Her husband wants to have a child, but she does not. Tragedy strikes when he dies in a car accident, forcing her to move in with her in-laws.

Soon after, a terrifying supernatural nightmare unfolds. A demonic entity - referred to in the franchise as a Deadite - begins possessing one person after another, spreading chaos and horror wherever it goes. How Is The Film?

Evil Dead Burn is an intense and brutal horror film. The level of violence and gore is on another level altogether. The way human bodies are mutilated on screen is so graphic that it makes chopping vegetables seem tame in comparison.

Several sequences are so horrifying that you’ll instinctively close your eyes. Some scenes are almost impossible to watch and may leave you disturbed long after they’re over. In one particularly gruesome moment, a car seat’s headrest pierces a woman’s neck before she pulls it out herself. Another scene shows fingers being severed after getting trapped in a car door, making for an unforgettable - and deeply unsettling - visual.

At nearly one hour and 45 minutes, the film occasionally feels stretched, especially during dialogue-heavy scenes where you find yourself waiting for the next horror sequence. Ironically, despite how disturbing the violence is, you’ll still be curious to see just how far the filmmakers are willing to push it.

The film also features a post-credit scene. While watching the previous instalment in the franchise will help you fully understand its significance, it isn’t essential to enjoying or following the story.

If you’re a horror fan, this is definitely worth watching. But if you’re faint-hearted, proceed at your own risk. It’s probably best to watch it with someone else, and certainly not alone at night.

Evil Dead Burn Performances

The entire cast delivers convincing performances that make the horror feel frighteningly real. At no point do the actors appear to be “acting”; instead, they completely immerse themselves in the terrifying world of the film.

Souheila Yacoub is outstanding in the lead role and delivers a powerful performance that amplifies the film’s fear factor. Tandi Wright is equally impressive, while Hunter Doohan delivers several genuinely terrifying moments. Luciane Buchanan also shines, and the supporting cast does full justice to their respective roles.

Writing And Direction

The film is written by Sébastien Vaniček and Florent Bernard, with Vaniček also serving as director.

While the screenplay is solid, it’s the film’s execution and treatment that truly stand out. Vaniček’s direction is exceptional, creating an atmosphere of relentless dread that lingers well after the credits roll. The terrifying imagery and disturbing sequences stay with you long after you’ve left the screen, making Evil Dead Burn a horror experience that’s difficult to forget.

When asked about what’s the difference between acting on screen and on IMAX, he said, “You just can’t hide anything in IMAX. The resolution is so good and there’s no secrets, there’s nowhere to hide. It really promotes a sort of more subtle version of performance because it can very quickly become too much,” before adding, “So for me, I really enjoyed trying to find that tipping point of where you were working perfectly with the camera.”

Saturday Box Office Collection: Dhamaal 4 Jumps 60%, Alpha Crosses Rs 50 Cr , Welcome To The Jungle Holds Strong

The Saturday box office brought encouraging gains for several releases, with Dhamaal 4 emerging as the biggest winner of the day. The comedy registered a sharp rise in collections compared with its opening day, while Alpha reached a significant milestone by crossing the Rs 50 crore net mark in India. Meanwhile, Welcome To The Jungle, Lenin, and Idhayam Murali also witnessed healthy day-on-day growth as the weekend gathered pace.

Dhamaal 4 Day 2 Box Office Collection

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Dhamaal 4 enjoyed an impressive second day in cinemas, collecting Rs 22.50 crore net across 10,954 shows. The film registered a 60.7% increase over its opening-day net collection of Rs 14 crore. With this, the film's India net collection has climbed to Rs 36.50 crore, while its India gross stands at Rs 43.80 crore. Internationally, Dhamaal 4 added Rs 5 crore on Day 2, taking its overseas gross to Rs 10 crore. The film's worldwide gross collection has now reached Rs 53.80 crore.

Lenin Day 2 Box Office Collection

Lenin continued its opening weekend on a positive note by collecting Rs 8.15 crore net on Day 2 across 2,099 shows. The film registered a 14% increase compared with its opening-day earnings of Rs 7.15 crore. Its India net collection now stands at Rs 15.30 crore, while the India gross has reached Rs 17.60 crore. The film earned Rs 2.50 crore overseas on Saturday, taking its international gross to Rs 5.80 crore and its worldwide gross to Rs 23.40 crore.

Idhayam Murali Day 2 Box Office Collection

Idhayam Murali also benefited from the weekend rush, collecting Rs 3.15 crore net on its second day across 1,375 shows. The film witnessed a 65.8% rise over Friday's Rs 1.90 crore. Following two days in theatres, its India net collection has reached Rs 5.05 crore, while the India gross stands at Rs 5.81 crore.

Alpha Day 9 Box Office Collection

Alpha achieved a major milestone on its ninth day by officially crossing the Rs 50 crore net mark in India. The film earned Rs 2.25 crore net on Saturday across 2,883 shows, reflecting a 36.4% jump over Friday's Rs 1.65 crore. Its India net collection now stands at Rs 51.35 crore, while the India gross has reached Rs 61.21 crore. The film also collected Rs 1 crore overseas on Day 9, pushing its international gross to Rs 24.30 crore and its worldwide gross to Rs 85.51 crore.

Welcome To The Jungle Day 16 Box Office Collection

On its 16th day, Welcome To The Jungle continued its theatrical run with a Rs 1.60 crore net collection across 2,315 shows. The film recorded a 60% increase over Friday's Rs 1 crore. Its cumulative India net collection now stands at Rs 127.65 crore, while the India gross has reached Rs 151.72 crore. The overseas market contributed Rs 0.50 crore on Day 16, taking the film's overseas gross to Rs 32.20 crore and its worldwide gross to Rs 183.92 crore.
