Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Box Office Day 1: Shanaya Kapoor’s Debut Film Opens To Disappointing Numbers

Despite anticipation for Shanaya Kapoor's debut, "Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan" opened poorly, earning only ₹35 lakh on day one.

Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Box Office Day 1: Despite much anticipation around Shanaya Kapoor’s Bollywood debut, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan failed to make a strong impression at the box office on its opening day. The romantic drama, which also stars Vikrant Massey, couldn't manage to cross the ₹50 lakh mark on Friday, as per early estimates by Sacnilk.com.

Day 1 Domestic Collection Falls Short

According to the report, the film earned just ₹35 lakh on its first day in theatres. The overall Hindi occupancy remained low at 9.92% on Friday, signaling a slow start.

Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan also underperformed when compared to Vikrant Massey’s last release, The Sabarmati Report (2024), which opened at ₹1.25 crore, according to Sacnilk.

Shanaya Kapoor’s Debut Journey

Shanaya Kapoor was initially slated to debut with Bedhadak, a film that was later shelved. Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan eventually marked her entry into Bollywood, but the lukewarm reception may be a setback for the star kid's launch vehicle.

Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Review

An excerpt from the ABP Live Entertainment review of the film reads as, "Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan' is far from perfect, but it does try something different, something not often seen in mainstream romantic cinema. Yes, the premise may seem hard to digest for some, and that’s fair. But isn't cinema supposed to push boundaries, challenge perception, and offer something new? While we often complain that nothing fresh is being made, when it does arrive, we meet it with disbelief.

The cinematography is gorgeous, locations are captured with grace, adding an almost poetic touch to the narrative. There are light-hearted moments and comic relief sprinkled in, which help break the emotional heaviness. The film rests entirely on its two lead characters, and it's fascinating to watch how they carry the story almost entirely on their shoulders."

About the Film

Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan explores emotions, romance, and the deep connection shared between its lead characters. The film, released in theatres on Friday, has been produced by Mansi Bagla and Varun Bagla and directed by Santosh Singh.
