Kangana Ranaut Calls Herself A 'Replica' Of Madhubala On Yesteryear Star's Death Anniversary
espite a prolific career and many path-breaking performances, Madhubala was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for 'Mughal-e-Azam', the only nomination she ever got.
New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut has called herself a replica of Bollywood's yesteryear superstar Madhubala who gave the Hindi film industry some of it's most iconic films. On the death anniversary of Madhubala, Kanagana Ranaut shared a collage of her own pictures and that of Madhubala to elaborate the point. She shared the collage on her Instagram story and wrote, "As people want me to play cinema goddess Madhubala on screen, when I started out I was replica of Madhubala's younger days not sure about it now.”
Kangana also gushed over her own pictures from her younger days when she had started out in Bollywood. She also shared a solo picture of her in a black blouse and skirt and wrote, “Oh God this is from my first year in the films industry.”
Kangana Ranaut made her debut in Bollywood with the film 'Gangster' opposite Emraan Hashmi in 2006. She later went on to star in many films but it was with 'Fashion' that she received fame and appreciation for her work. Kangana was last seen in the action film 'Dhaakad' which turned out to be a big flop at the box office. Kangana will soon be making her directorial debut with 'Emergency' and will also be starring in the Tamil film 'Chandramukhi 2' for which she has been learning classical dance.
Meanwhile, Madhubala was a leading film actor from the 40's to the early 60's. She went on to star in films like 'Mughal-e-Azam', 'Amar', 'Neel Kamal', 'Mahal', Mr. & Mrs. 55, 'Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi', 'Half-Ticket' among many others.
Madhubala was born as Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi in Delhi and relocated to Bombay when she was 8-years-old with her family. In the post-independence era, she was one of the highest-paid entertainers in the country. Madhubala's illustrious career spanned more than 20 years and she appeared in over 60 films by the time of her death in 1969. Despite a prolific career and many path-breaking performances, Madhubala was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for 'Mughal-e-Azam', the only nomination she ever got.
