Sunita Ahuja Says Govinda Is Surrounded By The Wrong People: 'Uski Zindagi Barbaad Kyu Kar Rahe Ho'

Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, recently shared her disappointment over the actor's reluctance to return to films. The actor who ruled the silver screen in the 1990s, has taken a long break from acting.

Sunita on Govinda not doing films anymore

Speaking to Zoom, Sunita reflected on her husband’s stardom and expressed her frustration over his inactivity. “I always tell Govinda that you are a legend star, aap 90s ke Raaja the. Today’s generation of kids dances on your songs. I keep asking him to have better company. Why is a legend like you sitting at home? Actors of your age are doing so much work, including Anil Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, and Jackie Shroff. Why don’t you work? We miss seeing Govinda in films.”

She shared that both their children, Yashvardhan and Tina, also wish to see their father on the big screen again. But what bothers her most, she says, is the company he keeps. “My children and I are dying to see him on screen. The company and friends you are hanging out with are not saying what’s good for you, bas haan mein haan milaate hain, they don’t mean well for him. I want to say to these so-called friends of his – Govinda even helps you financially, why don’t you show him the right path?”

Govinda on not evolving with time

According to Sunita, Govinda has not adapted to the evolving landscape of the film industry and remains tied to the sensibilities of his past. “90s is gone, it’s 2025. 90s ke style ki movie koi nahi dekh raha. Uski zindagi barbaad kyu kar rahe ho do kaudi ke paison ke lie? Tell him to lose weight or look handsome. We feel bad that such a legendary actor is sitting at home. Film industry mein actors ko apni waah-waahi sunna acha lagta hai, they don’t want to listen to the truth. 90s mein wah-waahi thi, Govinda jaisa koi actor nahi hai, but he has to do good films and choose good directors. He is lacking there.”

Sunita on why Govinda is not interested to work on OTT platforms

Sunita also revealed that she once managed her husband’s professional commitments but eventually stepped back after repeated disagreements. She even encouraged him to explore opportunities on OTT platforms, but Govinda reportedly declined. “I used to manage Govinda’s work a few years ago. I suggested to work in the OTT medium. There was a good subject, but he refused. I told him that 4-5 years down the line, people will only watch OTT. I am a fan myself. I watch a film in a different language every day. But he said that he only wants to do films on the big screen. I don’t even manage his work now. 38 years tereko jhel liya, tu sunta toh hai nahi. Ab jinki sunn raha hai, usme bhi karke dekhle kya kar sakta hai.”
