Veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently opened up about his long-standing camaraderie with fellow actor Nana Patekar, with whom he has shared screen space in several notable films like 'Welcome', 'Krantiveer', 'Aanch', and 'Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal'. In a candid chat with Lallantop, Rawal reflected on Nana’s larger-than-life personality and recounted a comical incident that perfectly captures his no-nonsense attitude.
When Nana Patekar got ₹1 crore for a film
Speaking on the unpredictable nature of actors and how respect plays a pivotal role in their choices, Paresh said that many character actors are willing to work for as little as ₹1 if they’re treated with dignity. On the flip side, if an actor feels undervalued, even a ₹10 crore budget might not sway them. But when it came to Nana Patekar, Rawal said, things were different altogether.
He recalled how Nana, known for defying industry norms, once demanded ₹1 crore for a film—at a time when even top-billed heroes were hesitant to ask for such a fee. What’s more surprising? He actually got it. “That soil is different,” Rawal said, marveling at Nana’s confidence and the impact he commanded.

But the highlight of the conversation was a hilarious anecdote Paresh shared about Nana's quirky hospitality. In his words:
“There is a producer, I won’t take the name. Nana told him – come home. He asked, ‘Do you eat mutton?’ He ate. Nana said – ‘You ate, right? Now go clean the dishes.’ This is Nana Patekar — Baap hai voh (He’s a legend). He’s completely different, man.”
Nana Patekar and Paresh Rawal
Known for his intense performances and straightforward demeanor, Nana Patekar has always stood apart in the film industry. His last big-screen appearance was in 'Vanvaas' (2024), directed by Anil Sharma. Despite a strong ensemble cast including Utkarsh Sharma, Rajpal Yadav, Simrat Kaur, Khushbu Sundar, and Ashwini Kalsekar, the film failed to leave a significant mark at the box office, though it earned appreciation from critics. Nana has yet to announce his next project.
Meanwhile, Paresh Rawal continues to stay busy with an exciting lineup of films. He is reuniting with Akshay Kumar in the upcoming horror-comedy 'Bhooth Bangla', which also stars Tabu. The veteran actor will also return in 'Hera Pheri 3', directed by Priyadarshan, and is part of the high-profile ensemble in 'Welcome to the Jungle', which boasts a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Arshad Warsi, and Suniel Shetty.
