Comedian Munawar Faruqui, known for his appearance on 'Bigg Boss 17', recently opened up about a deeply emotional experience he faced when his young son was diagnosed with a rare condition called Kawasaki disease. The condition, which causes inflammation of blood vessels and can damage the heart, struck Munawar’s son when he was only a year and a half old. In a heartfelt conversation with Janice Sequeira on her YouTube channel, Munawar shared the challenges he faced during this difficult period.
When Munawar needed money for his son's treatment
Recounting the traumatic moment, Munawar admitted that he was taken completely by surprise. “I was completely caught off guard, and it was a really tough moment for me,” he said, describing how he felt paralysed by the shock for 30 to 40 minutes. The treatment for his son’s condition required costly injections priced at Rs 25,000 each, but at the time, Munawar had only Rs 700 in his pocket.
Munawar sought help from others for son's treatment
With no immediate solution in sight, Munawar was forced to swallow his pride and seek help from others to fund his son’s treatment. “I had to swallow my pride and ask for help, which was really difficult for me,” he shared. Through the kindness of others, Munawar managed to gather the required funds, and within three hours, he was able to return with the money. Although relieved, he explained that the experience left him humbled and changed.
“I travelled to Mumbai Central, collected the money, and returned within three hours. While I was relieved, I couldn’t smile because it wasn’t my money,” he said. Reflecting on the experience, Munawar vowed, “After that day, I made sure I’d never be insufficient financially again.”
The comedian, who recently married Mehzabeen Coatwala, first opened up about his six-year-old son Mikael, whom he shares from his previous marriage with Jasmine, during his appearance on Lock Upp, Kangana Ranaut’s TV reality show.
