Govinda Reacts To Divorce Rumours With Sunita Ahuja: "I Am In The Process Of...'

While speculation surrounding Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja's relationship has been making headlines, Govinda has reacted to these reports.

Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja are rumoured to be on the verge of divorce after 37 years of marriage. While speculation surrounding their relationship has been making headlines, Govinda reacted to these reports. 

What Govinda said about divorce rumours

When asked about the ongoing rumours of trouble in his marriage, Govinda told ETimes, "There are only business talks going.....I am in the process of starting my films."  

Sunita did not respond to ABP News’ request for a comment regarding the separation rumours. 

Govinda's manager confirmed the legal notice

Amid reports that Sunita has filed for legal separation, Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha told IANS, “Right now, the news is being spread all over the place. So we are keeping an eye on it. Yes, she has sent a legal notice in the court. I am aware of that. But there is no concrete matter as to what it is. The legal notice hasn’t yet reached us.” 

Sinha hinted that Sunita’s recent remarks and actions have played a role in fueling speculation about Govinda. He stated, "You must have seen that something or the other has been coming up. This or that. Sunita ji has said something or other about Govinda ji. She said she taught him acting or dance."

He also spoke about the couple’s living arrangement stating that while Govinda spends a significant amount of time at his bungalow, Sunita stays in a flat. However, he emphasized that this does not reflect any lack of commitment from the actor toward his family. 

“There are certain things that are going on. But they are on their own terms. But it is not like there is a poet in a book or something. Govinda is a man of a different nature. He stands for others, and for his family,” Sinha explained. 

“They don't live separately. Govinda lives in his bungalow. Most of the time, he lives there. Yes, he comes and goes to his house. He lives in a bungalow for a few days. He works in a political party, he is in the ministry. He is associated with the government. So, it’s very natural for him to spend some time in his bungalow,” he added. 

Sunita Ahuja's remarks about Govinda

Speculations of a strain in Govinda and Sunita’s relationship intensified after Sunita made candid remarks about their marriage in a few recent interviews. 

During a conversation with Hindi Rush, Sunita was asked about Govinda’s romantic side, to which she responded with laughter. She went on to say, "I have told him that in my next life, he should not be my husband. He doesn't go on holidays. I am a person who wants to go out with her husband and eat pani-puri on the streets. He spent too much time working. I don't recall a single instance when we both went out to watch a movie." 

Govinda and Sunita tied the knot in March 1987, though they kept their marriage a secret until after the birth of their daughter, Tina, in 1988. The couple later welcomed their son, Yashvardhan, in 1997.
