Maharashtra Elections Result Live Update 2026: Power Decision Of 29 Municipal Corporations In State

The verdict for Maharashtra’s 29 municipal corporations is out, with the BJP-led Mahayuti emerging as the clear winner. Following vote counting on Friday, the BJP and its allies have secured a majority or lead in 19 civic bodies across the state. In a major political setback for the Thackeray camp, the Shiv Sena–BJP alliance has crossed the majority mark in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), ending over two decades of Thackeray dominance and paving the way for a Mahayuti mayor in Mumbai.

The BJP also retained control of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, reaffirmed its dominance in Nagpur, maintained its hold in Thane alongside the Shinde faction, and emerged as the single-largest party in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where AIMIM finished second.
