A fresh political controversy has erupted in West Bengal after the Trinamool Congress (TMC) released a purported sting operation video allegedly involving Humayun Kabir. The ruling party claims the footage points to a high-value financial deal and has demanded a formal probe into the matter.
According to TMC, the video shows Kabir purportedly discussing a deal worth Rs 1,000 crore, including an advance payment of Rs 300 crore. The party has described the development as a serious allegation with potential political ramifications.
TMC Alleges Links With Senior BJP Leaders
The TMC has further claimed that several senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) figures are named in the alleged conversation. Among those mentioned, the party said, are Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, West Bengal leader Suvendu Adhikari, and even references to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Addressing a press conference, TMC leaders Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas and Kunal Ghosh termed the video a “major revelation”. They argued that the contents suggest the possibility of a larger political arrangement and called for a thorough investigation.
The party has urged the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to probe the allegations, stressing that claims involving such large financial transactions require an impartial inquiry.
Kabir Rejects Claims, Calls Video ‘AI-Generated’
Responding sharply, Humayun Kabir dismissed the allegations, asserting that the video was fabricated using artificial intelligence. He accused the TMC of targeting him due to political insecurity.
“This has been created entirely using AI. The Trinamool Congress is unable to counter me politically and is afraid of me and my party,” Kabir said.
He challenged the TMC to produce evidence supporting its claims, questioning the authenticity of the alleged meetings and links. Kabir also warned that he would initiate legal action against TMC leaders, including Kunal Ghosh, Firhad Hakim, Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, if the accusation remain unproven.
Kabir further alleged that the video was aimed at misleading voters and damaging his image, particularly among the Muslim community. He maintained that without concrete proof, the accusations were baseless and politically motivated.
