'Kejriwal Overwhelmed By Liquor, Money, Power': Anna Hazare On AAP Staring At Huge Loss In Delhi
Arvind Kejriwal is currently trailing in his New Delhi bastion with around 300 votes as BJP leader Parvesh Verma has picked up lead.
With early trends suggesting a historic comeback for BJP and AAP staring at a loss after a decade-long rule, social activist and Arvind Kejriwal's estranged guru Anna Hazare said that he always stressed how a candidate's conduct should be pure and without blame. He slammed Kejriwal, saying that he told him about this but he "did not pay heed".
Hazare also slammed Kejriwal for being overwhelmed by money and power as he questioned how the issue of liquor scam arose. He also said that Kejriwal was "drowned by liquor", referring to the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam. Hazare said that the former Delhi CM's image was dented, adding how the scam was the reason why the AAP was getting fewer votes.
"I have been saying it for a long that while contesting the election - the candidate must have a character, good ideas and have no dent on image. But, they (AAP) didn't get that. They got tangled in liquor and money - his (Arvind Kejriwal) image was dented because of it and that's why they are getting fewer votes in the election... People saw that he (Arvind Kejriwal) talks about character but gets involved in liquor... In politics, allegations are made. One has to prove that he is not guilty. The truth will remain truth. When a meeting was held, I decided that I would not be part of the party - and I have remained away from that day," he said.
