BJP's 'Sankalp Patra' vs Congress Manifesto: The BJP released their "Sankalp Patra" on Monday which is their manifesto for 2019 Lok Sabha elections. This came only three days before polling is about to begin and five days after the Congress released its manifesto on April 3. While the BJP released the manifesto titled 'Sankalpit Bharat, Sashakt Bharat' (Determined India, Empowered India), the Gandhi scion on the other hand had said that the manifesto reflects the voice of the people and not just one man's view. Primary and Secondary Education


• Aims to open another 200 such Kendriya Vidayalalas and Navodaya Vidayalas by 2024
• Enable investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in higher education through Revitalising of Infrastructure and Systems in Education (RISE)
• The BJP aims to focus on teachers training and capacity building as a key factor in achieving these learning outcomes

Higher Education

• BJP has promised to work towards increasing the number of seats in premier management, engineering and law institutes by at least 50% in the next 5 years
• To create 50 quality higher educational institutions and Institutions of Eminence institutions by 2024
• Will promote a programme for ‘Study in India’, which will focus on bringing foreign students to study in higher educational institutions in our country and make India a major destination for education for foreign students

Congress on education


Primary and Secondary Education

• Congress promised that school education from Class I to Class XII in public schools shall be compulsory and free
• The party will introduce a single-window system for education loans and will also bring a low that will list the rights and duties of students in the country
• Rahul Gandhi has said a Congress government will waive outstanding interest on old education loans prior to March 31, 2019

Higher Education

• Congress promised restore the independence and autonomy of colleges and universities and will open new state-run varsities in backward areas of the country to ensure the expansion of the education sector
• Focusing on higher education, the party has promised to establish more public universities in the country, especially in under-served areas
• Congress has vowed to establish more Institutes of Higher Learning in subjects such as medicine, engineering, commerce, management and pure sciences
