MCD Results 2022 Reaction HIGHLIGHTS: 10-Year-Old Party Has Defeated Largest Party Of The Country, Says AAP's Sanjay Singh
MCD Results 2022 Reaction HIGHLIGHTS: Delhi recorded a voter turnout of 50.48 pc in the high-stakes municipal polls held on December 4.
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said the barely 10-year-old party has "defeated" the largest party of the country (BJP) in their stronghold. "The results have once again proved the AAP is a hardcore honest party." Singh also said the results were remarkable considering the BJP had gone all guns blazing, deploying all its top leaders, including 17 central ministers, for campaigning.
Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta said, "Despite 15 years of anti-incumbency, our performance is better. We worked for the people of Delhi at the municipal corporations but may be some people were not happy. There was no anger against the BJP though."
Launching an attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha said that people of Delhi have given a befitting reply to the BJP.
"BJP got a befitting reply from the people of Delhi. People have voted for the one who works for development. Today, Delhi has wiped out the 'keechar' that BJP tried to throw on Arvind Kejriwal. We'll transform Delhi into the most beautiful city in the world,' he said.
Punjab Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann applauded his Delhi counterpart on maintaining lead in the polls to the 250-wards Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Praising Kejriwal, Mann said that he uprooted Congress' 15-year long rule in Delhi and BJP's 15-year term in the MCD.
"Arvind Kejriwal uprooted 15-yr-long Congress rule in Delhi and now the 15-yr-long BJP rule in MCD. It shows people of Delhi don't like politics of hatred, they vote for schools, hospitals, electricity, cleanliness and infrastructure," he said.
In a back-and-forth of statements and counter-statements by Bharatiya Janata Party and Aam Aadmi Party as the counting is underway for MCD Elections 2022, Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta said that people of Delhi will take revenge from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his corruption and betrayal.
"People of Delhi will take revenge for the manner in which Delhi CM indulged in corruption and betrayed them. I trust people of Delhi. We raised issues, exposed AAP's corruption and revealed their failures. We're going to come to power in MCD, for the 4th time," he said.
As the counting is underway for MCD elections 2022 with AAP rallying ahead, flowers were seen being taken to AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence.
With a close fight between BJP and AAP, both the parties are exuding confidence that the next Delhi mayor will be from their parties. The Bharatiya Janata Party said that the it worked cleaning the garbage in Delhi and continued doing so during the pandemic and that is why it is confident that the next mayor will be from BJP.
"We worked for the disposal of garbage & it continued even during Corona. BJP has worked. That's why we're confident that the next Mayor will be from BJP. Last time too, surveys gave only 50 seats to BJP but we won 2/3rd majority," said Delhi BJP leader Harish Khurana.
As the voting for MCD Polls 2022 are underway in the national capital, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj reposed his faith in the party and said that his party will get more than 180 seats and that the next Delhi mayor will be from his party.
"We are going to get more than 180 seats. If voters favour us, we can also cross 230 seats. Mayor will be from our party. I think exit polls are pointing towards the victory of Aam Aadmi Party," he said.
Ahead of the results for the MCD polls 2022, Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Adesh Gupta said that he has full faith in the people of Delhi and that the Delhiites will give the party another chance to head the civic body. "I have full faith that people of Delhi will give us another chance," he said while talking to ABP News.
Refuting the exit polls, he said that exit polls have been proved wrong many times. "We will get more seats than what has been projected in the exit polls," he added.
Ahead of the results for MCD polls 2022, the Aam Aadmi Party exuded confidence and came with the slogan, "Acche honge 5 saal, MCD mein bhi Kejriwal' (next five years will be good, Kejriwal will be in MCD too)
Ahead of the result of MCD Polls 2022, the Bharatiya Janata Party exuded confidence while the Aam Aadmi Party claimed a "landslide" victory as per the predictions of the exit polls.
"We are expecting better results than what the exit polls predicted. These exit polls also show that people have rejected all the allegations leveled by the BJP (against AAP) and have voted for good work," Durgesh Pathak, AAP's MCD poll in-charge, told news agency PTI.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP general secretary Dinesh Pratap Singh said, "We have hope that the results will prove the exit polls wrong and the BJP will return back to rule the MCD. However, we will accept whatever the results are."
