A late-night outing turned into a nightmare for a 23-year-old man and his cousin sister after they were allegedly assaulted and thrown out of a club inside a five-star hotel in Delhi's Connaught Place by bouncers. The incident took place in the early hours of July 2.
According to the FIR, the man, a resident of Tilak Nagar in west Delhi, had gone to the club just past midnight on July 1 with his 32-year-old cousin. They stayed at the venue until around 4 am, when an altercation broke out in the restroom. The man claimed that he noticed a broken flush spilling water and was suddenly confronted by a cleaner, who accused him of damaging it. “I told him it wasn’t working when I got there. I even turned it off myself,” the complainant said.
Bouncers Allegedly Assault Guests At CP Club
As the dispute escalated, two bouncers allegedly approached the guest, grabbed him, and forcibly pushed him out of the club. When he resisted, they reportedly began punching and kicking him. His cousin rushed to intervene but was allegedly assaulted as well. “They threatened to kill me. Both of us were thrown out of the club’s gate,” he said in his statement.
The duo called the police helpline number 112, and a PCR team arrived shortly after. The two were taken to a hospital, where medical reports cited injuries “allegedly due to physical assault by unknown bouncers.” A formal complaint was later lodged at Connaught Place Police Station.
A case has been registered under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint), and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). CCTV footage from the premises is being reviewed to establish the sequence of events.
While the club has not issued any statement, the hotel that owns the property clarified that it has no affiliation with the club, which is leased to a third party. "Our concern is with the safety of guests, and we are cooperating fully with the police,” the hotel stated. The investigation is ongoing.
