‘Message Is Brotherhood’: Muslims Shower Flower Petals, Distribute Water Bottles In Nagpur And Silliguri’s Ram Navami Yatras — Video

On Ram Navami, Muslims in Siliguri and Nagpur displayed interfaith harmony by showering blessings on devotees participating in yatra processions.

In West Bengal’s Siliguri, the people from the Muslim community on Sunday showered flower petals and distributed water bottles to the people at a yatra on the occasion of Ram Navami.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Rustam Alam said that we are welcoming the rally on the occasion of Ram Navami.

“We are showering flowers on them...We want both communities to live peacefully…,” Alam said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

The celebration across Bengal began with vibrant processions and chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, as devotees thronged the streets to soak in the religious fervour, amid heightened security in the state to maintain law and order during the celebrations. The festive spirit was palpable on the streets, with saffron flags, devotional music and tableaux depicting scenes from the Ramayana adding to the grandeur of the celebrations.

In Kolkata alone, more than 60 rallies have been planned, prompting the deployment of around 4,000 to 5,000 police personnel.

Senior officials, including those of the rank of deputy commissioner and joint commissioner, have been tasked with overseeing security across the rally routes.

“Lakhs of Hindus are expected to hit the roads on Ram Navami. I would urge the state government to take steps so that it can be celebrated peacefully. Any attempts to forcefully halt the celebrations won’t be tolerated. Ram Navami celebrations will be held, no matter what you do,” state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar asserted.

Besides Siliguri, people from the Muslim Sewa Samiti in Nagpur shower flower petals on the devotees during the Shobha yatra on the Ram Navami.

"Nagpur is the city of brotherhood...Our motive is to promote this brotherhood and peace…,” said a member from the Muslim Sewa Samiti.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted people and wished that Lord Ram's blessings always remain upon us and guide us in all our endeavours.

“Ram Navami greetings to everyone! May the blessings of Prabhu Shri Ram always remain upon us and guide us in all our endeavours, Modi said in a post on X.”
