In a tragic turn of events, on Monday, a 23-year-old man confessed his crime to the police in Venjaramoodu, stating that he had killed six people including his 13-year-old brother, his 80-year-old grandmother, and a young woman whom he confirmed to be his lover.
The accused, identified as Afan, hospitalised after informing the police that he had consumed poison, police said, news agency PTI reported. While authorities have confirmed the deaths of five individuals, his mother—who was also attacked—remains in critical condition at a private medical college hospital.
Among the victims were two of his close relatives, believed to be his paternal uncle and the latter’s wife. Further police confirmed that the gruesome killings took place across three houses in the Venjaramoodu area near the state capital.
The crime surfaced after Afan visited the Venjaramoodu police station in the evening and confessed his heinous act. Officials have not disclosed further details but confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the tragic incident.
Bengaluru Woman Seeks Doctor’s Help To 'Kill Mother-In-Law'
In a separate incident, a Bengaluru-based woman allegedly approached a doctor seeking a prescription for tablets to "kill her mother-in-law." The doctor, Dr. Sunil Kumar Hebbi, immediately filed a police complaint, leading to an investigation by Sanjaynagar police. Later, the police zeroed down on the woman and issued a summon for questioning.
The incident unfolded on February 17 when Dr Hebbi received a WhatsApp message from an unknown person. The sender, who identified herself as Sahana, initially greeted the doctor and requested to communicate in Kannada. Dr Hebbi, a social activist and medical professional, obliged and inquired about her health concerns.
According to Dr Hebbi, as per reports, Sahana expressed hesitation before revealing her true intent. When I inquired about her health concerns and what help she needed, she told me she wanted to confide in me and asked if I would scold her for what she was about to say," Dr Hebbi recounted, as per IANS.
