Indigo Plane En Route To Delhi Aborts Landing In Delhi Airport Amid Dust Storm: Video

Flight 6E 6313, from Raipur to Delhi, experienced turbulence due to strong winds in the capital, following which the pilot had to abort landing.

An Indigo flight en-route to Delhi was forced to abort landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport amid severe dust storm in the national capital on Sunday.

Flight 6E 6313, from Raipur to Delhi, experienced turbulence due to strong winds in the capital, following which the pilot had to abort landing.

The incident occurred amid a sudden weather change in Delhi, where a dust storm accompanied by downpour led to a significant temperature drop and disrupted flight operations, causing multiple diversions and delays.

A video recorded by the passenger surfaced on the internet showing the moment the turbulence rocking the plane. However, the aircraft landed safely at Delhi's IGI airport after making many circuits in the air.

The pilot announced that the wind speed was upto 80 km per hour and he discontinued the approach and climbed back till the weather cleared.

The incident comes days after an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Srinagar encountered severe turbulence amid a strong hailstorm on May 21.

The latest incident comes after parts of Delhi witnessed a spell of very light to light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, on Sunday evening.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said an east-southeastward moving cloud cluster triggered the weather activity, with winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour, gusting up to 50 kmph, over the southern parts of the national capital within a span of one to two hours.

The wind speed picked up significantly in several locations -- Palam and Jharoda Kalan in southwest Delhi recorded gusts of 65 kmph and 37 kmph respectively at 4:30 pm, while a thundersquall was reported over Safdarjung between 4:35 pm and 4:37 pm, with winds peaking at 66 kmph.
