Haryana CM Announces 5-Minute Yoga Break In All Govt Offices From Today
Saini said that all government schools will soon adopt a credit-based assessment model for evaluating students’ yoga skills. A uniform yoga curriculum will also be rolled out in all universities.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday announced a new initiative introducing a daily five-minute yoga break across all government offices. Additionally, a standardised yoga curriculum will also be implemented in every college and university throughout the state.
The new five-minute yoga break will begin from Saturday and is aimed at easing work-related stress and boosting the overall well-being among state employees, he said.
Saini made the annoucement during a state-level programme on the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) at the Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra. The yoga session, led by yoga guru Ramdev, was also attended by Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Health and AYUSH Minister Kumari Arti Singh Rao, and MP Naveen Jindal.
Uniform Yoga Curriculum To Be Implemented Across Universities
Saini also announced the establishment of 100 additional yoga and exercise centres (vyayamshalas) within the current financial year, in addition to the 883 already in operation. A global-standard meditation hall will also be built at Shri Krishna AYUSH University in Kurukshetra, he said.
The Haryana CM further revealed that all government schools will soon adopt a credit-based assessment model for evaluating students’ yoga skills. Furthermore, a uniform yoga curriculum will also be soon rolled out in all universities and colleges across the state.
Starting this year, naturopathy and yoga will be officially recognised under the AYUSH system, with provisions for practitioner registration, he said.
Saini stated that 40 new yoga instructors will soon be hired by the sports department to promote yoga as a competitive sport at national level and train athletes for international events.
Participants also witnessed a live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The main gathering at Brahma Sarovar drew over a lakh participants, while nearly 20 lakh individuals across 22 districts and 121 blocks took part in synchronised yoga sessions.
During his address, the Haryana CM highlighted that this year's IDY theme, 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' reflects yoga’s universal value, which is not just as a personal wellness tool but as a practice with global implications.
“Yoga is more than physical activity—it is a holistic science that promotes a joyful, peaceful, and healthy existence,” he said, describing it as an "art of living" and encouraging its inclusion in daily routines.
He also unveiled a new scheme 'Yoga Lekhak Protsahan Yojana,' which will reward top writers contributing to yoga literature annually.
