'Was Not Ready For Their Marriage, She Always Fought With Him': Father Of Techie Who Killed Wife In Bengaluru

The techie was nabbed from Maharashtra's Satara, where he was found unconscious on the road. He had allegedly consumed a poisonous substance after fleeing from Bengaluru.

The chilling case of a 36-year-old techie stabbing his wife to death and then stuffing her body into a suitcase in their rented home in Bengaluru's Doddakammanahalli has left everyone in shock. The accused is said to have called his in-laws to inform them about what he had done before fleeing to Pune. He was later found unconscious on a road in Maharashtra’s Satara district, from where he was arrested.

The investigations so far have revealed that the accused, Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, attempted to stuff her inside the suitcase while she was alive. He then tried to drag it out of their home, but when the handle broke, he abandoned it at their home and placed it near the outlet pipe for the blood to drain, Times Of India reported. 

Rakesh's father, Rajendra, who arrived at Sassoon Hospital in Pune, told reporters on Friday that Gouri Anil Sambrekar, the victim, was his niece (his sister's daughter).

"We were not ready for Rakesh and Gouri's marriage as we felt she was quarrelsome by nature. However, the two were firm and got married about two years ago. Gouri always fought with my son and other family members. Many times, we had to approach the police," TOI quoted Rajendra as saying.

"Rakesh called me Thursday afternoon and told me about what had happened in Bengaluru. Rakesh even said he was going to end his life. I told him not to take such a drastic decision. I told him to inform Gouri's mother and police. I immediately went to the Meghwadi police station (at Jogeshwari in Mumbai) and informed them about the incident," he added.

Techie Attempts Suicide After Killing Wife

The man allegedly consumed a poisonous substance and was found on a road under the jurisdiction of Shirwal police station in Satara on Friday, 24 hours within the murder.

"We found the man lying on the road in an unconscious state on Thursday night. He later told us that he had killed his wife. By the time we informed our seniors, the news about the murder in Bengaluru had surfaced," said Yashwant Nalawade, senior inspector, Shirwal police station, PTI reported.

Yashwant told TOI that Rakesh had purchased phenyl and chemical after leaving for Maharashtra in his car. He drove up to Shirwal via Khambatki Ghat and stopped alongside the road to consume the chemical.

Police said that that Rakesh wanted to neet his parents in Mumbai and had switched off his phone before leaving Bengaluru, but turned it back on near Pune. He called his wife's brother to inform him that he had killed Gouri. Gouri's brother then alerted the local police in Maharashtra that contacted Hulimavu police in Bengaluru to dispatch a team to locate the house.

The accused also called up his landlord to inform him about Gouri, falsely claiming she had died by suicide. He asked him to alert the police, following which a team arrived and broke open the house's door to discover Gouri's body stuffed inside a suitcase.
