A car in the convoy of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma met with an accident in Jaipur on Wednesday. Seven persons, including five policemen deployed for the chief minister's security were injured when their vehicles collided while the Rajasthan CM's convoy while he was travelling to attend a programme.
The accident occurred earlier in the day as the Chief Minister was on his way to attend an event in Jaipur. A vehicle approached the convoy from the wrong side of the road while the CM was enroute leading to the accident.
When the convoy was near the NRI Circle in Jaipur, a vehicle in the CM's convoy collided with a road divider. The Rajasthan Chief Minister rushed the injured to the hospital in his personal vehicle.
"The Chief Minister ordered his vehicle to stop immediately. All five police personnel injured in the convoy vehicle crash were admitted to Jagatpura’s Jeevan Rekha Hospital. Among the injured, ASI Surendra Singh's condition is critical," an official from the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Office said.
"The CM's carcade was moving as usual and no traffic was stopped... an accident took place. The CM took information about the matter and wasted no time in taking the seriously injured person to the hospital in his vehicle, instead of waiting for an ambulance to come, a CMO official said.
Arun Kar, the SHO of the Ramnagaria police station, said the CM's carcade was moving on the Jagarpura road when a car came from the wrong side and collided with an escort vehicle. A taxi also got hit in the accident.The SHO said that five policemen and two tourists were injured and admitted to the hospital.
