The arrested Central Industrial Security Force personnel include an inspector, a head constable and three constables, one of whom is a woman. Search is underway for other suspects.

Kolkata Police have arrested eight persons, including five CISF personnel, for their alleged involvement in a robbery committed at a businessman's house under the pretext of a raid by income tax (I-T) sleuths. The incident took place on the eastern fringes of Kolkata in the Chinar Park area on March 18.
The arrested Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel include an inspector, a head constable and three constables, one of whom is a woman, news agency PTI reported.
According to police officials, the incident took place when a gang, impersonating Income Tax officers, raided the residence of Vinita Singh, who lives with her daughter. "As soon as the door was opened, they entered the house and first took away the mobile phones of all the family members," India Today reported citing a police source.
According to Singh's complaint, the robbers allegedly took away Rs 3 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh from the businessman's mother, and a digital video recorder (DVR) that was linked to the CCTV cameras, PTI reported.
The family members lodged a complaint at the Baguihati Police Station after they noticed absence of a seizure list, making them suspicious.
The police launched an investigation, reviewed CCTV footage, and conducted interrogations. The probe led them to the arrest of suspects, with two of them being arrested in Kolkata and another CISF personnel being tracked down from Farakka in Murshidabad district, the officials said.
Search is underway for other suspects who may be involved in the crime.
Robbery Planned Due To Property Dispute?
It was revealed during further investigation that there was a property dispute between Vinita Singh and her stepmother, Arati Singh after the death of Vinita’s father. Arati reportedly had connections with an arrested CISF inspector, and is belived to have contacted him to orchestrate the robbery, the police officials said, as reported by PTI.
The stolen items were allegedly to be shared between Arati and the conspirators. Arati Singh has also been arrested.
The police confirmed that the accused were arrested under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections related to theft, forgery, and cheating.
The investigation is underway, and efforts are on to track down other individuals involved.
In an update posted on social media platform X, the Bidhannagar Police said: "The case regarding the fake Income Tax raid was registered at Baguihati PS (Baguihati PS Case No. 192/25 dated 18.03.2025), and as of now, eight individuals, including five serving CISF personnel, have been arrested.
