The Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) is expected to keep the repo rate unchanged on February 6, following its December 2025 rate cut, according to DBS Bank.

Radhika Rao, Executive Director & Senior Economist at DBS Bank, said the central bank is likely to adopt a cautious stance. “The MPC lowered rates in December 2025, along our expectations, but is expected to refrain from cutting rates further in February. Tone and guidance of the policy statement will be important, where we expect the committee to signal a preference for a nimble and forward-looking response mechanism,” she said.

DBS noted growth momentum remains firm after the US trade deal, while inflation has moved off lows. With the rupee under pressure and deposit mobilisation a challenge, the MPC is expected to pause and instead use liquidity measures, including continued bond purchases through April-June 2026.
