MG is running for two segments with one car thanks to the Hector Tomahawk while in this article we will see how it compares with the Innova Hycross hybrid with the PHEV and how the EV compares with the electric Mahindra XEV 9s.

Hybrid Story

The PHEV version of the Hector Tomahawk is very efficient at 40 kmpl thanks to its plug in hybrid powertrain which means it has a 1.5 NA petrol and a 20.5 kWh battery pack with 198bhp.

The range per full tank is 1100km.

The Innova Hycross hybrid meanwhile has a 2.0 NA petrol engine with a much smaller 1.6kwh battery pack with a total power of 184bhp and a claimed efficiency of 22.16 kmpl.

Both have a different gearbox too.

Electric Battle

In terms of the electric version the Tomahawk EV has a 69.2 kwh battery pack with a claimed range of 517km.

The XEV 9S meanwhile has three battery packs of 59,70, and 79kwh. The topend XEV 9S has more range at 679km.

The XEV 9S is also more powerful at 286bhp for the topend 79kwh battery pack version while the Hector Tomahawk has 204bhp.

Price Wars

The Hector Tomahawk EV with BAAS starts at Rs 13.9 lakh while the rental is 4.9 Rs/km. Without that the price is Rs 19.5 lakh starting.

The Mahindra XEV 9s meanwhile starts at Rs 20.6 lakh.

The Hector Tomahawk PHEV starts at Rs 25.7 lakh while the Hycross is Rs 26 lakh starting.

Overall, the EV version of the Tomahawk is cheaper but has less range while the PHEV version is priced on par with Hycross with more efficiency.

MG yesterday launched its Hector Tomahawk in both plug in hybrid and in EV form. Here we take a look at the differences between the two cars while which one suits your usage. The Hector Tomahawk in PHEV would be available later with deliveries starting in November while the EV version is available earlier.

Which one is more value?

The Hector Tomahawk EV is much cheaper than the PHEV at Rs 19.4 lakh starting for the EV vs 25.7 lakh for the PHEV. The BAAS price meanwhile is Rs 13.9 lakh for the EV and Rs 21.7 lakh for the PHEV. Do note that the battery rental is also different with the EV having a cost of Rs 4.90 per km while for the PHEV it is much less at Rs 3.20 per km.

Which one is cheaper to run?

The PHEV version has a claimed range of 1100km per full tank while the claimed efficiency is 40kmpl. The EV version meanwhile has a range of 517km. If charging at home, the EV version is cheaper but on longer trips, the excellent fuel efficiency of the PHEV turns things around although 40kmpl won't be the real efficiency and neither would you get 500km in the real world.

Which one looks better?

Both cars have the same dimensions but the EV has a smoother, blanked off grille design while the PHEV has a more aggressive look. Even the alloy wheels are different on both cars.

What about the features?

Both cars have the same set of features but the EV has a different seating position due to the larger battery while it has some V2L and V2V features as well. Plus, the EV version is available in both the 5 and 7 seater form while the PHEV is a 7 seater only.

Which car is more powerful?

The EV has a single motor which develops 204hp while the PHEV has a NA 1.5l petrol and an electric motor which develops 198bhp. The PHEV version has an EV only range of 115km too.

Which one to buy?

The PHEV version is for those who travel on longer journeys and cannot be dependent on EV alone. It does have its USPs and brings the best of both worlds. That said, it is much more expensive than the EV. The EV meanwhile is for those who need an SUV for the city only.

Parth Jindal Launches MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV With 40kmpl Mileage

Parth Jindal today announced not just the electric version of the MG Hector Tomahawk but also the PHEV version of the SUV. The Hector Tomahawk like the EV version is based on the new Adapt architecture which focuses on hybrid and EVs plus plug in hybrid powertrains.

The Hector Tomahawk PHEV is priced at Rs 21.7 lakh with BAAS which means a further 3.2 Rs is charged for the battery. Without BAAS the Hector Tomahawk PHEV is priced at Rs 25.6 lakh. This is the first plug in hybrid SUV that has entered the compact SUV segment at this price.

The Hector Tomahawk PHEV by a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol and has a 20.5 kWh battery pack with an electric only range of 115km plus the fuel efficiency is 40kmpl. This kind of mileage is unthinkable for a large SUV.

Design and Deliveries

Deliveries of the Hector Tomahawk will start a bit later from the electric version in November. Design wise the Hector Tomahawk mirrors the design of the electric version but has a tweaked front end of course which makes it different from the EV.

PHEV Technology and Positioning

The plug in hybrid SUV is something which is not available right now at mainstream levels with only luxury carmakers bringing this technology. Now with the Hector Tomahawk PHEV coming in with a mileage of 40kmpl and over a 1000km range the Hector Tomahawk will appeal to those who want the efficiency of diesel and lower running cost of an EV but also the comfort of having a petrol engine.

The pricing of the MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV is also similar to a diesel automatic SUV or a conventional strong hybrid SUV.

MG Hector Tomahawk EV Launched At Rs 13.99 Lakh: Check Range, Features

JSW MG has revealed its new electric SUV placed above the Windsor. The Hector Tomahawk is based on its new ADAPT architecture and is purely electric for starters while a plug in hybrid will follow soon.

The Hector Tomahawk as it will be called is bigger than the current Hector and comes with a 69.2kWh battery along with a claimed range of 517km. The SUV also has a front mounted electric motor with around 150kw.

Design and Road Presence

The Hector Tomahawk looks boxy and the EV version has a closed off grille. Size wise it has plenty of road presence with an upright roofline. The Hector Tomahawk is not having any similarity to the Hector being based on a different platform altogether.

Some of the detailing at the front we can see are the H shaped DRLs and the squarish LED headlamps.

Features and Interior

The interior is a typical MG affair with a large floating touchscreen but also a decent amount of physical buttons. The 39cm touchscreen infotainment system has EV related features plus features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 540 degree camera and more while powered seats with ventilation, panoramic sunroof, gesture controls, powered tailgate and more are there too.

Price, Seating and Rivals

Prices of the Hector Tomahawk have been revealed too without the BAAS which is under 20 lakh. The MG Hector Tomahawk will compete with the likes of the Mahindra XEV 9s in being a premium family three row electric SUV while available with a lifetime battery warranty and in 5 plus 7 seater forms with a 2.8m plus long wheelbase along with a boot space of 610l with the 5 seater and 528l for the 7 seater.

Suzuki e Sky Won’t Come To India: Should Maruti Launch It Here?

The e Sky is a small electric hatchback which fits the Kei car specifications which is a segment of small cars that Japan famously has. Being it's first ever EV hatchback, the e Sky will be launched in Japan soon.

It has a small but boxy shape and is led by an interesting lighting element along with a C shape pattern. There is a blanked off grille as well which is expected from an EV. The design at the rear is also a mini SUV like with flared wheel arches while the rear has distinctive taillamps. The length of the e Sky is around 3395mm.

Interior, Power and Range

Inside the cabin is quite premium with a larger touchscreen when compared to its cars here plus a 3 spoke steering wheel along with a high mounted gear selector. The seats have fixed headrests but space seems ample on the inside especially at the rear seat.

The e Sky has a small electric motor which develops 64 bhp and has a claimed range of 300km plus.

Why The e Sky Won’t Come To India

The e Sky won't be coming to India since it is Japanese spec and for their market but in India Maruti Suzuki has been working on its EV range and wants to expand it further.

Alongside the recently launched eVitara SUV, the carmaker is now working on other products within the electric segment while an affordable electric hatchback could be in the works.

There aren't many affordable electric hatchbacks in India right now save for the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet while an affordable Maruti Suzuki electric hatchback is indeed an exciting proposition considering how it will change the electric segment at the volume end.

New 2026 Audi Q3 First Look, Images, Features And Launch Details

The new Q3 is finally here after a long wait and this replaces the current gen Q3 which has long been a big seller for the brand. The new Q3 is launching soon while it will be available with a 2.0 TFSI turbo petrol which is larger than rivals which use a smaller unit. The 2.0 TFSI develops 204bhp and comes with a 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

Larger Dimensions, More Aggressive Design

The new Q3 is larger when compared to the older model with a length of 4531mm and a wheelbase of 2681mm. The front end is now more aggressive with a split design for the headlamp plus the DRLs. The grille is also bigger now and looks more muscular. The rear too is more striking now with a wider look.

Inside, the new Q3 is much more modern than the older version with a larger touchscreen and a new digital instrument cluster. There is a new 12.8-inch touchscreen and a 11.9-inch digital display. There are some buttons for basic functions though. Features include dual zone climate control, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, 360 degree camera, Sonos audio system and more. There is a new four spoke steering too and the gear selector has been moved to the stalk now.

New Q3 To Take On BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA

The new Q3 will be launched around October and will be running against the likes of the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA and more. The new Q3 is expected to be the best selling Audi considering it's positioning and in its segment holds appeal for its larger petrol engine and Quattro AWD which is a plus point for sure.

With new look, more features the new Q3 is expected to add competition to the entry luxury space which recently saw the launch of the X1 LWB as well.

Bajaj Pulsar Turns 25 As New Pulsar 150, 125 Launched

The Pulsar has turned 25 and from the round headlamp Pulsar to the latest line, the Pulsar has come a long way. Today they launched the new 150 Pulsar with many changes.

New Pulsar 150 Gets Several Updates

Styling-wise, it retains the typical looks but now has many upgrades. The 149.5cc single-cylinder engine now has tweaks with smoother power delivery and more torque. Then you have an updated frame and a new gearbox.

The low-speed riding is easier now and the ride plus handling has been updated as well. The suspension is also tweaked. There is ISG and crawl mode to make riding in traffic easier.

Features-wise, the new Pulsar 150 now has an LCD cluster, with the top variant having a TFT display. Other additions include more tech like WiFi, Google Map mirroring, Type C port and more.

The stop-start system also conserves fuel and helps in smoother starts. Styling-wise, not much has changed, with the fairing only being changed a bit.

The updates all make the Pulsar a better buy now, with prices starting at Rs 1.15 lakh for the base SD single-seat version and Rs 1.23 lakh for the TD split-seat.

Pulsar 125 Also Gets Updates

The Pulsar 125 meanwhile starts at Rs 92,990 with four variants with three ride modes and more. The base version though does not have this feature.

The Pulsar 125 has 11.7 bhp in terms of the power. Crawl technology is standard on both the 125 and 150 range. It also uses a new frame plus a TFT display.

Bajaj has been aggressive with the launches and this follows up from the N160 S and the N160 SS. The Pulsar has been one of the most popular names and this updates the volume end.

The new Superb is coming soon and while it is some time away with deliveries planned from next year. The Superb being back is indeed good news while we spent some time with the car recently.

Sleek, Premium Design

With a length of 4912mm, the new Superb looks more sleek and premium with a cleaner look while being less boxy. The lines are cleaner and has presence for sure.

High-End Interior And Features

The interior meanwhile shares with the Kodiaq and has a clear high end luxury feel with high quality switchgear. There are plenty of physical buttons with multiple functions while the cognac leather feels rich. The rear sleep package brings sunblinds all around and space inside is big but best for two passengers with a central tunnel. The seats themselves are quite comfortable too.

The features list includes a Canton Audio System with 14 speakers, three zone climate control, 360 degree camera, 10 airbags, ambient lighting etc. However there is no sunroof or rear seats with reclining function.

The Superb boot is power operated and is 645l.

Diesel Engine Returns

The big USP of the new Superb though is the 2.0 diesel TDI which returns to India with 150hp and 360nm. The gearbox is a 7 speed DSG. The new Superb also gets Progressive Dynamic steering, Dynamic Chassis Control which tweaks the ride and handling balance.

Price And Competition

The price is yet to be out since it is dependent on the upcoming India EU free trade agreement which will come into effect from 2027. However, expect a price of Rs 50 lakh starting while the diesel powertrain will surely attract buyers.

The new Superb will be available in limited numbers though being a CBU import. It will rival the Toyota Camry hybrid in India.

BYD Sealion 7 Dynamic Price Cut: What You Get For Rs 41.90 Lakh

The Sealion 7 is a fast electric SUV that has impressed us but now it has gotten even more tempting with the new Dynamic variant which reduces its prices further. With new launches in the entry luxury space like BMW with its X1 LWB, BYD has also launched a new Dynamic variant which is Rs 8 lakh cheaper with a price of Rs 41.90 lakh, ex-showroom. This has happened because the Sealion 7 Dynamic has less features now and a smaller battery.

This means that the Dynamic trim now has a 71.8kWh Blade battery pack and a 231hp rear motor. Range claimed is still ample at 520km the claimed 0-100kph performance time is 7.3 seconds. This is down on the 82.56kWh battery pack that is there on the Premium and Performance version.

Features Cut, But Key Equipment Remains

Some features missing on the Dynamic trim include a heads-up display, gesture powered tailgate, air purifier and more. The Dynamic version of the Sealion 7 does get features like a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, powered seats, ventilation function, 15.6 inch touchscreen which is rotatable plus more. Visually, the car gets smaller wheels as well.

The pricing is much less and that enables the Sealion 7 to get more buyers while being in the reach for premium SUVs further. The Sealion 7 competes with other electric SUVs while this price now puts it in the region of other more affordable but mainstream SUVs.

Is the Sealion 7 Dynamic Worth Considering?

While the power is down on the Sealion 7 Dynamic vs the other trims, the performance is decent on paper and it seems it has most of the features which buyers could want at this price bracket. If on a budget, you can consider this since the price gap is quite between the Dynamic and the other variants.

This is the ultimate Jeep and one that's recognised all over with its grille, round headlamps and the shape. The Wrangler Rubicon is the original daddy in terms of off-roaders and while I knew it would be great off-road, the question was whether it can be a practical everyday car considering it's Rs 80 lakh price-tag. The Rubicon is the most hardcore variant of the Wrangler and it looks even more monstrous with its wider bumper, chunky off-road tyres and its towering stance.

Over two months I drove the car everyday which was a test in itself considering the narrow roads and the traffic. While climbing in requires some effort even for a tall person like me, an accessory like a foot step is needed although it has grab handles. Once you have hauled yourself on the inside, the cabin is functional but characterful.

Proper switchgear greets you but there is a larger touchscreen now with powered seats, a better all around camera and basics being covered like ADAS. The driving position is lovely too and you have a nice view out. The switches are water proof while the roof and doors can be opened. Despite its size, space isn't as big but it can have two passengers and luggage space is ample too.

Inside the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, the cabin blends rugged character with modern features and tech.

The four cylinder 2.0l turbo petrol is energetic and fast with a simple tap of the throttle enabling this beast to jump forward. Power is 270bhp and the 8-speed automatic does a decent job. There are perks to driving a Wrangler though as bad roads are not a problem and neither is water wading with an ability to go over pretty much everything.

While large and requiring caution to park, the Wrangler Rubicon is easy to get used to and it's better now with more luxuries while highway performance is decent too. However, the Rubicon isn't a luxury SUV since it's more hardcore. The offroad spec tyres kick up a noise above 80km/h and the roof also does the same while the ride is bouncy too. While the performance is fast, the fuel efficiency is 6 or 7kmpl at worst while climbing to 9kmpl on the highway while I used premium petrol.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon shows off its rugged design, water-wading ability and open-air character.

So yes while it is thirsty and has a bouncy ride, the Rubicon in its new avatar is much better prepared to deal with the concrete jungle while retaining its core ethos. It has epic road presence and will easily cope with anything that the monsoons can throw at it.

Off-road it is phenomenal of course and you don't need to tamper with the features as the standard setting is enough to take on anything. The approach/departure angles are spot on and the it can climb/go through some serious stuff.

Overall, this isn't the usual luxury SUV but has more charm and looks over pretty much anything at below 1 cr which is its appeal.
