CNG sales have been increasing with more products, and Maruti Suzuki has had the highest sales, while cars like the Victoris see as much as 50 per cent of sales coming from the CNG version. Now, Maruti Suzuki has added an automatic variant for its CNG cars, notably for the Baleno, Dzire and Swift.

Dzire CNG AMT: First Drive

The Dzire CNG, in particular, is what we drove, and it has a 5-speed AGS or AMT. The single CNG tank remains, and it is not an underbody arrangement.

Immediately, the automatic variant makes life easy behind the wheel, with the AMT being smooth at low speeds. In CNG mode, performance is good enough, and for city traffic, the AMT further makes life easy. Compared to the manual, this is much more relaxing.

At highway speeds, of course, there is some pause and lag, but the convenience is easily worth it.

Mileage And Practicality

The mileage, too, makes it very frugal, with a claimed efficiency of 36.4 km/kg. Hence, overall, this is an important addition and makes getting a CNG variant more appealing for buyers.

This will see a further increase in CNG sales, with the automatic helping with city driving. Yes, the CNG versions compromise on boot space, but the lower cost of maintenance will be a big plus.

Automatic CNG Expands Maruti's Line-Up

Having an automatic means Maruti Suzuki has filled a gap in its product range in terms of CNG cars. This is available across the Baleno and Swift hatchbacks as well, with the same AMT gearbox.

With CNG gaining popularity, this is an important launch, and more products could also get an automatic gearbox option in the future.

Tata Sierra Legend Series Gets More Features, Prices Start At Rs 11.9 Lakh

The Sierra gains a new Legend Series including the new Smart+ L, Pure L, Pure L (O), Pure + L and Adventure + L. Here for a premium of Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000 there are more features spread out.

There are more topend features now being added for example the dual zone climate control, boss mode, thigh support extension and ventilated seats were mostly on the top end which now makes its way into the lower end trims. The base trim isn't base with many features including auto mirrors, steering controls and leatherette seats.

Pure L now adds a 10.25 inch touchscreen and a rear camera plus an 8 speaker audio system etc. The Adventure+ L has a 360 degree camera, FAD dampers, cooled globe box etc.

Sierra Legend Series: Powertrains And Pricing

Powertrains remain the same but the Pure+ L has the more powerful turbo petrol engine and is the most accessible way to get a turbo petrol. Prices start at Rs 11.9 lakh for the Smart+ L and end at Rs 18.19 lakh for the Adventure+ L.

This adds more value for the Sierra range and give an option to buy a more feature packed SUV for less price. The Legend Series now makes for a good buy if you want a Sierra with more features being added from the variants above.

While this adds confusion to the buyer in terms of the variants, the Sierra L we think makes more sense now over before expanding its value. Powertrains otherwise remain the same with diesel and turbo petrol plus the NA petol being available too.

This could provide an uptick to Sierra sales overall we feel.

JSW Motors’ Biggest Surprise? Chery iCaur V23 Spotted Testing In India

While the Jetour T2 would be their first car, JSW Motors has a long line-up of new offerings also in the bag after the launch of that car. It includes more products from the Chery portfolio including the iCaur V23.

Being spotted testing in India, this will rival the Mahindra Thar and the 4x4s with its tough looks but this is an EV of course. The top-end battery pack will come with AWD and speaking of which, the V23 will most likely come with either 59.93kWh or an 81.76kWh battery pack while the range will top out at 450 km.

iCaur V23 Design and Features

With a dual motor set-up, the V23 will be a serious off-road rival with on-road credentials as well. The car has circular LED headlamps and a square shaped boxy look which is seen with most off-road biased cars. It looks tough and boxy despite being compact.

Another interesting design element is the tailgate mounted box to store the charging cable. Inside, it looks premium but has chunky buttons while the main highlight is the 15.6 inch touchscreen.

The car will come with 5 seats and for the Indian markets it could come with extra features to make it compete better with the Roxx and other cars here. Hence, expect a panoramic sunroof amongst other upgrades.

JSW Motors’ Premium EV Strategy

The V23 would be the second model after the Jetour T2 premium plug-in hybrid SUV. JSW Motors will bring premium electrified cars and won't have any petrol or diesel cars being mostly EVs, hybrids and plug-in hybrid cars.

The V23 could be the major volume player and would be a key model for JSW Motors in expanding its presence. Expect a launch by next year starting being the second one while entering into a crowded segment of premium EVs with dual motors like the Sierra AWD along with traditional rivals like the Roxx as well.

900bhp, Fast Laps And Off-Roading: Inside Lamborghini Esperienza Corsa

Lamborghini recently conducted its first ever Esperienza Corsa event where customers can experience the Temerario at the Buddh International Circuit. There was also a 4x4 experience section with the Lamborghini Urus SE.

Lamborghini has an electrified line-up these days with its High-Performance Electrified Vehicle including the powerful duo of the Temerario supercar and the Urus SE. Here the Temerario was driven on the track and each setting was explored along with acceleration, braking and handling at a secure place. None other than the BIC and we were part of the fun too.

Temerario Brings Over 900bhp To The Track

The Temerario has a combined horsepower of over 900bhp and that is very quick indeed including its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine only developing 800 bhp. 0-100 km/h is just 2.7 seconds which is insanely quick while the exhaust note when the V8 kicks in is loud as well.

Being hybrid has not tempered with the soul of Lamborghini while only enhancing the speed. There were fast laps and the thrill of speed is indeed addictive with this fast missile taking only a few seconds to reach triple digit speeds.

The Temerario being AWD means you can use all that power but it is also fun when you want it but within a safety net. Being a supercar, the Temerario is sharp and has quick reflexes while the speed is something that can be experienced only on a track where you can realistically reach near its top-speed.

Lamborghini Urus SE Takes On The Off-Road

There was also a dedicated 4x4 experience section-yes, in a Lamborghini! Despite the thought of taking a Rs 5 crore Urus SE off-road, we banished our fears and were surprised how capable it is.

There are three dedicated off-road modes and the ground clearance plus the capability is something which owners probably wont ever get near at but whatever the surface, the 789bhp Urus completely dominated it.

All in all, it was a fun experience with two very fast Lamborghinis!

Mahindra Thar Facelift: 3-Door SUV To Get Roxx-Like Design, More Features

Mahindra is preparing a facelift for the Thar 3-door, with the updated SUV expected to receive a more comprehensive set of changes than the earlier update.

The biggest change is likely to be at the front, where the new Thar 3-door could get styling inspired by the larger Thar Roxx. The SUV is expected to feature a tweaked grille, new alloy wheels and revised tail-lamp treatment.

The changes are aimed at giving the three-door Thar a fresher look as the Roxx has gained popularity in the lifestyle SUV segment.

Thar 3-Door Could Get Roxx-Inspired Cabin Updates

The cabin is also expected to receive several changes. Mahindra could revise the centre console and introduce additional features borrowed from the Thar Roxx.

The updated Thar 3-door is expected to focus more on comfort and practicality, with a revised features list potentially playing an important role in attracting buyers.

Although Mahindra had updated the three-door Thar previously, the upcoming facelift is expected to bring more extensive changes across the SUV.

Engines And 4x4 Capability Likely To Continue

The Thar 3-door is expected to retain its existing engine lineup, comprising two diesel engines and one petrol engine. Four-wheel drive is also expected to remain part of the package.

The changes are likely to focus primarily on the design, cabin and feature list rather than the core off-road hardware. The SUV is still expected to retain its positioning as a hardcore off-roader while gaining more lifestyle-oriented features.

The facelift could also get lighter steering, similar to the setup offered on the Thar Roxx.

Price Increase Expected

With the additional features and cosmetic changes, the updated Thar 3-door is expected to command a higher price than the current model.

Mahindra is yet to launch the facelift, but the updated three-door Thar is expected to arrive soon. More details about its features, variants and pricing are likely to emerge closer to the launch.

Tata is readying the next generation of the Nexon sub compact SUV while it will be a crucial car since it has been one of the most popular in its class. The Nexon even went on to be one of the best selling cars in India. Now, there is a new generation which is expected to come in 2027.

While a new platform is expected, the new Nexon could be based on the current one but being heavily localised. The new Nexon will be bigger but based on the same styling theme which means it will be sharper plus a more premium look.

The Hector Tomahawk EV is priced at Rs 19.49 lakh starting and is an EV which is available with 5 as well as 7 seater versions. It is a battleground in the luxury car space and BMW is leading with higher growth than rivals. All that is due to aggressive pricing, right product mix and many new launches at the right segments. It all started with the iX1 LWB which shocked the industry with its pricing and has gone on to be a big success.

Later, the LWB model was followed with the 5 Series, X1 petrol LWB and now this, i5 LWB. The new i5 LWB is the electric 5 Series with LWB configuration along with aggressive pricing- at Rs 79.6 lakh, less than its arch rival.

BMW has been sharpening its strategy and that includes localised products at competitive prices. The i5 LWB is very much the same. With a massive 5,175mm in length and with a 3105mm wheelbase, the i5 is as long as the petrol 5 Series while looking nearly as big as a 7 Series. It has a presence and the illuminated grille, 20-inch wheels and more adds to the look.

Inside, it is also a tech fest with a 14.9 inch touchscreen where most of the functions are there removing physical controls. Quality is high and it feels futuristic on the inside. What we really like though is the ride quality which is excellent not for a BMW but for the segment while it does roll a bit around corners due to its size plus weight.

Despite the LWB, ground clearance isn't an issue and the range would be around 450km in the real world.

The i5 LWB offers a tempting alternative to the petrol luxury car with its better performance and silence. Yes, some rear seat features are missed but other than that it is a great value luxury car.

The Creta continues to be a big success for Hyundai selling in larger numbers despite new competition. The brand Creta is the strongest in the Hyundai portfolio while now the carmaker wants to increase its SUV market share with the Bayon.

The Bayon as we have reported earlier would be a new SUV which would be placed between the Creta and the Venue. It would be more than 4m in length but smaller than a Creta while not getting a diesel engine.

Instead the Bayon will get a CNG and a naturally aspirated petrol engine to compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. The Bayon CNG will get an underbody configuration which saves boot space and will be a crucial car with CNG sales increasing.

The naturally aspirated petrol will get a manual or a CVT automatic. The Bayon will intent to repeat the success of the Creta while here the focus would be on pricing and the appeal of the car.

Bayon Design and Powertrain Focus

The Bayon is sold outside also with this name but the India spec Bayon would be different. It would have a sleek crossover design and details including new 12.3-in screens along with the new steering wheel with the Morse code Hyundai logo.

The Bayon will begin where the Venue left off and will be a bigger SUV for the new buyers where CNG is turning out to be more popular. Hence, the Bayon will not offer a diesel most likely and concentrate on powertrains like petrol or CNG.
